He looked up at me with swollen eyes. I wasn’t even sure if he knew who he was talking to at this point. “So, you don’t hear me fucking talking to you?” I roughly gripped him by the face and stared down at him. “Where the fuck is my shit? I ain’t in the mood to fucking play with you.”

His lips ain’t budge. Nigga must really didn’t know who he was fucking with. He had to be one of the new drivers that were just hired not too long ago. Whenever we hired a driver, we let it be clear that if they ever got caught with product that they better not fucking mention our name. If they ever stole some shit, we have their addresses and were gon’ steal something back from them, even if it was a life. We didn’t play when it came to our business and kept a tight forefront. That’s how we survive in this industry.

“Fine.”

Wham!

My fist went straight across that nigga’s face. “Grim, lock his ass up ’til he’s ready to talk and make sure you pay a visit to his family. Show his ass who he’s really playing with.”

“No!” he finally spoke.

“Oh, you can talk now, huh?” I stood there with my hands shoved in my pockets.

“I was paid to make the shipment disappear.”

“And you really thought it was a smart idea to show up here, knowing you didn’t have my shit? None of you niggas be thinking with yo’ brain. If that’s the case, you should’ve just ran off and didn’t show up at all. Grim, show this nigga what happens to mufuckas that steal from us.”

“Please! Keep my family out of it!”

Spinning on my heels, I headed for the door. “You not gon’ ask him who paid him?” Murda questioned from behind me.

“I ain’t got to. I got a feeling I know exactly who did.”

A COUPLE DAYS LATER

Today was my gender reveal and I couldn’t wait to see what I was having. The only thing I was worried about at the moment is my gender reveal. The other day, Maniac came back in talking about my daddy again, leaving me in a rough spot. I wasn’t speaking to him at the moment, but I thought that would’ve been enough to scare him straight, but I guess not. He was showing me that he didn’t really care about my feelings or my life. It’s only so much that I can do. It’s giving Tyree all over again. If something happens to him, I can’t even fault myself because he brought it upon himself.

I stepped in front of the floor-length mirror and took in my appearance. I stood there in my white off the shoulder dress that stopped at my knees. My hair flowed over my shoulders in huge spiral curls. I chose white because I didn’t know what I was having. Everyone that’s supposed to be in attendance is supposed to wear white as well.

Maniac stepped up behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist. He massaged my stomach and rested his chin on myshoulder. “You get even more beautiful every single day.” I tilted my head against the side of his face.

“Are you ready to find out what you’re having?” I asked him as I gazed at our reflection.

“I already told you that it’s a boy.”

He was so adamant about it too.

“We need to get outta here before we’re late,” I told him and peeled out of his embrace.

“We’re the star of the party. We can’t be late,” he replied and grabbed my purse off the dresser.

Aria and Solei got together to plan our gender reveal and it was being hosted at Bishop and Liliana’s house. We decided on their house because they have the biggest backyard. It’s not like we were having a lot of people over. I invited Daddy, but with all the chaos that he’s been causing, I’m sure that he isn’t going to show his face.

We left out the house. Maniac opened the passenger door on his car for me and I slipped into the seat. Ever since I gave Daddy back his truck, I’ve been driving the Maserati. It didn’t feel the same as me having my own car, but it was working for the moment. Maybe after all this baby stuff, I’ll sit down and figure out what kind of car I want. I need something that’ll benefit me and the baby. I guess eventually, I was gon’ have to get a new car since I wasn’t able to ride a newborn around in the front seat of a pickup truck. Maybe that falling out with Daddy had to happen.

Maniac got in alongside me and asked, “What’s wrong?” It’s like he always knew whenever something was bothering me. That man reads me better than anyone.

“Nothing.”

“Thought we weren’t lying to each other?” His head snapped in my direction, and he just sat there.

“I said nothing because it’s nothing important. I was just thinking about how I was gon’ have to get a new car by the time the baby gets here.”

“That is something. We gon’ work on that. You don’t have anything to worry ’bout,” he said and pulled off.

By the time we made it to his parents’ house, it seems as if everyone had already arrived. There were cars parked all in the grass in front of the house. I’d be scared that they’d kill the grass, but with how much money they have, I’m sure that’s the least of their worries.
