Then I pick her up and settle her on my chest like a little limpet clinging to me, her heavy, warm breath soothing my heated skin.

Her head comes up, barely, after a minute. “That was…”

“That was amazing. I’ve never been with a woman like you. One that is my world.”

She giggles and then cuddles into me. “Good. I like being one of a kind.”

“You’ll always be my one.”

She settles on my chest and her eyes close. I pull a throw that’s on the back of the couch across her and settle in, closing my own eyes.

I can’t believe that I found a woman I was willing to risk everything for.

But I have. I want the world with her. Whatever she wants. Whatever she needs. I will give her everything I can.

A smile tilts my lips as she nuzzles close and growls under her breath.

I’ve got the woman of my dreams. A woman that I swear I never saw coming.

And thank heaven, I didn’t manage to push her away. She’s mine. I’m hers.

I don’t know exactly what the future brings, but for the first time in forever, I’m actually excited to find out. It’s all brand new with her.

It’s all perfect with her. I can’t wait to see what’s coming. But as long as I have her, it’s all good.

As long as I have her, I’ll survive whatever comes our way.

“I love you,” I whisper, pressing my lips to her soft cheek and feeling her breath on my skin.

I’ve finally found my home, my one, my whole being. And however long I have her, I’ll survive.

She’s my everything. I can feel her heart on my chest and I smile, loving the feel of her.

I never thought I’d love again, but this woman? She is worth any pain. Any time we have.

Love. This little red-haired sassy woman is all I need. Just her love. And her smile.

I smile and shift her so that she’s more comfortable, closing my eyes and shutting down all the fears I have.

No more. I’d fight anything to have and keep her. Anything to prove that she’s mine. Forever.

Epilogue: Aspen

“Hey, Maggie. How’s it going?”

“Just fine.” She grins at us. “I knew that something was going on with you two.”

I glance over at Jax and he’s smirking like an idiot. “Yeah. I guess so.” I hold up my fingers and her sharp eyes notice right away.

“You got married! Oh my god. I can’t believe you sly dogs already snuck off and got hitched.”

Jax grins and holds my hand, kissing my palm. “We both know better than most people that each day is a gift and you’re not promised anything as far as time goes. So we didn’t want to waste any time.”

I smile at him and he kisses my hand again. “I couldn’t see waiting when all I wanted was to be with him. Why wait?”

Maggie nods and there’s something sad in her eyes. “When you know you know. Why wait indeed? What would you two lovebirds like to eat?”

“I would love a burger and fries and a shake…strawberry if you’ve got it,” I groan. “I’ve been dreaming about your burgers since we got back the other day.”
