No, Xia Foster isn't potential wife material. Not for me.Period.
The way his heart clenched at that thought was just indigestion.Nothing more.
Chapter Ten
Xia
The Pearl Paradise, CDS’ private beach resort, Madeira Island...
“Freaking gold-crusted bear balls! These Masters must be more loaded than I ever imagined,” Xia gushed as she stepped into the double-volume entrance lobby of the resort hotel.
Sunlight streamed through floor-to-ceiling windows, dancing across polished marble floors inlaid with intricate geometric patterns.Chandeliers cascaded from coffered ceilings, their prisms creating rainbow spectrums across cream walls.Plush leather seating areas invited intimate conversations, while exotic flowers in massive urns perfumed the air with a subtle fragrance.
Good grief, this makes the Ritz look like a motel.Xia spun slowly to take it all in.
“Offering luxury and kink has been a dream of these friends since college days,” Master Coop explained.“Max DuPont was the forerunner, but it didn’t take much for the rest to buy into his dreams.Don’t fool yourself into believing this fell into their laps because of their background and family wealth.”He gestured around proudly.“All of this was funded by themselves. Not a cent of family estates or inheritance was used.”
Of course, Rex would be part of something this magnificent. She sighed dreamily before she could squash it.
She noticed Master Coop smiling and had no doubt it was because of the awe still glowing from her face.
“The majority of the members are allocated rooms here as part of their annual fee. Those who prefer more privacy booked and paid an additional fee for the privilege of a beach cottage. The Masters each own beach villas that are a little farther down the bay from the rest.”
“And the staff?”She searched for familiar faces from the flight.“Where do we stay?”
“In the hotel. That’s one of the benefits mentioned. You get the same treatment and food as the guests while on the island...except when you’re on duty.First work, then play.Always remember that, Xia.”
“So, point me in the direction of my room, Master Coop.I need a short nap.”She glanced at him slyly.“Except if I’m allocated another impromptu duty somewhere else.”
“Still miffed at that, aren’t you?”His broad smile met her unfeminine snort.“Follow me, little angel.”
Xia eagerly walked beside him until he headed outside and down a walkway toward the beach. The path wound through manicured tropical gardens and the ocean’s rhythm grew louder with each step.
“Um, did we take a wrong turn? The hotel’s back there.”She looked over her shoulder, longing for the luxurious bed she had been dreaming about since they entered the lobby.
“And had your function not changed, you would have stayed there. As it is, since you are now Master R’s wife whisperer, he prefers you on hand to evaluate the potentials in all aspects of the...er...shall we say...courtship?”
