"Just now."

"You're an innocent, Kinsley." Burke brushed his lips over mine, and I rested my hands on his shoulders.

"My innocence is long gone, Burke. Everything I thought was right is wrong, and vice versa."

When he dipped his head again, I figured he was trying to distract me. It worked, at least for a minute.

"Burke, you can't make me forget what I said by kissing me breathless."

"That sounds a lot like a challenge."

Snorting, I put my palm in the center of his chest to ward him off. The feel of his warm skin beneath mine made my heart pick up speed, but I wouldn’t allow him to sway me. "It's not."

"Why do you want to go from the comfort of your life now to the daily hazard of getting involved with the gritty reality of Boston's underground?"

Even I didn't know the best answer, so I took a minute before responding. When Maddie said I should stand by Burke's side, I'd thought she was insane. Now, it felt like the last resort to making my marriage work. "I want to be by your side in all things."

There was no stopping his forward momentum when he pushed me against the wall and ravaged my mouth. It was a reaction I hadn't expected from him, but it made perfect sense.

Burke owned me; body, heart, and soul.

He broke away from my mouth to suck on the skin of my neck. "The very thought is hot as hell," he whispered in my ear. "You don’t even know how much I want to fuck you right here."

"We just had sex yesterday," I wheezed.

Burke pulled back to smirk at me. "So?"

Having no response that would make sense, I stood still while he planted his hands on the wall by my head, leaning in to swirl his tongue over my pulse.

We froze at the sound of Finn crying from the other side of the wall.

"I'll get him," Burke said.

I remained where I was, trying to calm myself and breathe properly. It was a marvel that Burke already wanted me again.

The sight of my half-naked husband carrying our baby against his bare chest had me clenching my legs together. "Not fair at all."

"There's always later."

Taking my hand, Burke led the way down the stairs to the dining room. I sat in my chair and reached for Finn, feeding him while Burke spoke to Parker about breakfast. When Finn finished nursing, Burke took him so I could eat.

"This is all I want," I said, watching the two of them.

"Most days, I can do it, Kinsley. Just not every day."

Eventually, he settled Finn in the swing so he could read his newspaper. I kept stealing glances at Burke because he had not put on a shirt, but he didn't appear to notice my heated cheeks.

After some time, he stood. "I'm going to get dressed. If Caden and Logan arrive before I'm back, please tell them to wait for me in my office."

"Yes, sir."

Leaning down, he kissed my forehead. "Now you want to be all polite?"

"Just remember, it's reciprocal."

Once he left the room, I pulled my cell phone from my pocket to check my class notes and was surprised to see a text from Anna. We hadn't had any communication since Finn was born.

When Burke came back down the stairs in a black suit and pewter tie, I barely even glanced up at him.
