"Infidelity bothers him, but not attempted murder." Once David was bleeding and writhing, Logan picked up a needle and injected him with adrenaline. After all, we didn't like them to die too fast when the point was to experience a world of pain.

"Then the only thing left is to set up the pins and knock them down," I said.

"Anna is mine."

"Agreed."

Picking up a soldering iron, Logan stared at the blood pouring down the drain. "I think I'll call her and tell her I want in, then wait for her to meet me. I'll tell her I think it was genius to partner with the brothers and ask if my dear old dad-in-law is faring well."

Taking a minute to mull it over, I contemplated the fact that I was sanctioning the death of my sister. "And then?"

"And then I blow her brains out."

Kinsley

Anxiety rode in my gut as I opened the door to greet two of my oldest friends. "Danny, Brenda. Hi."

"Kins." Instead of entering the house, Danny gazed around with a look of mild disgust on his face.

Brenda, however, moved in for a hug. "How have you been?"

"Mostly great."

"Mostly?"

I stepped aside, noting Noah standing nearby, as Danny and Brenda entered the foyer. "Nobody's life is perfect, but it was pretty close for a while."

"What happened?" Brenda asked with sympathy. She looked the same as I remembered, maybe a bit more relaxed. Their life was much happier without their families judging them.

"We'll talk about it later."

"Okay, sweetie." Brenda hugged me again, and I met Danny's gaze over his wife's head. The crease between his eyes appeared to be permanent.

"Let's go to the dining room. Parker has lunch ready for us."

"Parker?" Danny sneered in an ugly tone.

"The chef." I refused to cower under his attitude, but it was bothering me. He used to be so understanding and nonjudgmental.

"It sounds nice, Kinsley."

Leave it to Brenda to smooth over Danny's rough edges. I led them to the table, pleased the fall weather hadn't ruined the sunshine streaming through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

"Sit wherever. If you don't mind, Wyatt will join us in a few minutes. Finn is having a nap."

"Who's Wyatt?" Danny asked rudely.

"Don't you listen to anything I tell you? Wyatt is my personal assistant and my friend. He's dating Daisy."

"Oh, right."

There were a few moments of awkward silence as we took seats around the massive table and Parker served us.

"Um, where's Burke?" Brenda asked, helping herself to a plate and passing it to Danny.

Finally, someone mentioned my husband. "He's in Boston. He had business he couldn't get away from right now."
