Crying in earnest, Finn dropped his teething toy on the floor and shrieked. Kinsley soothed him, stepping out into the hall. I glanced at my watch, seeing that Maddie would be there soon. I needed Kinsley back in the game so we could come up with a solid plan.

Turning, I studied Logan. His slumped shoulders, his messy hair, and his wrinkled suit. "Coffee?"

"If it comes in a glass of scotch, then yes."

"It's not your fault," I said, though the words nearly stuck in my throat.

Logan's brow shooting to his hairline was all the confirmation I needed that I would not have said such a thing before Kinsley.

"I mean it. We had a team on him, but my sister is canny. God knows Dad is devious and might have planned this for months."

Logan sank onto the couch. "My marriage is over, Burke."

Caden came into the room, glancing back and forth between the two of us. "Did you just say your marriage is over?"

I answered for him. "Apparently, Anna helped my piece of shit father escape his detail."

"Oh, damn."

"Yeah." Pinching the bridge of my nose, I tried to think past the blinding hatred. "Looks like he conned Anna into helping him, but there's no confirmation on that as yet."

Standing in front of the liquor cabinet, Logan lifted his glass of scotch in an ironic toast. "And that's why my marriage is over."

"Fuck."

Kinsley came back to the room alone, wearing a suit and heels. I had to give her credit for her speed.

"Who'll make the calls?" she asked, standing by Logan and pouring a cup of coffee.

I grimaced. "Usually, that was Anna's job."

"I can do it," Kinsley said. "I just need names and numbers."

"No, I'll do it," Logan countered. "I'll clean up my own mess."

"It's not your mess, Logan. I hate that you're caught in the middle of this." Kinsley rested her hand on his upper arm briefly before moving to her chair on the opposite side of the desk.

Caden sat as well. "What do we say?"

"We have to be honest." I glanced down, remembering I was in a baby-stained t-shirt and pajama pants. "I'll be right back."

I passed Maddie, who was walking Finn up and down the hallway and singing to him. Giving them a smile, I continued to my room to dress properly. Once I was finished, I returned to the office to find the other three writing on legal pads.

"We're listing any properties we know the other Families hang out at," Caden explained.

"I hate to do it, Logan, but we need to look at your bank statements since he was cut off financially. Anna had to have taken out a sizable sum of money in order for them to pull this off without being homeless." At the expression on Logan's face, I sighed heavily. "What?"

"I've already discovered she was taking money from her allowance account and giving it to him. Since I took her credit cards and put her on a stricter spending limit, she kept asking me for money, claiming she wanted to donate it to charity. When I asked which one, she was very vague. I guess I should have seen it coming."

I sighed. "No, I don't think anybody saw this coming. I can't wrap my head around this, Logan. I grew up with her. Caden grew up with her. She was never like this."

"Nah, she would never act this way without Uncle Carson pressuring her."

Logan gaped at Caden. "So you think all of this—the attitude, the disrespect—is because he's been in her ear the whole time?"

I slumped against my desk. "Did she know about Kinsley before I did?" Kinsley cast her gaze to the carpet, and I felt the familiar sting of betrayal. "Did she?"

"I don't know!" Logan lurched out of his chair, heading back to the alcohol.
