As soon as I bit her clit, she went screaming into an intense orgasm. Her head hit the safety glass, and she nearly fell off the ledge before I caught her. Holding her close, I let her come down and catch her breath.
Wrapping her arms securely around my waist, she stared up at me. "So, the range turns you on."
"You turn me on."
God only knew how I'd react when she fired a gun for the first time. Another check in the column of reasons I was surely the devil incarnate.

Kinsley
With everything going on around us, I felt the need to take a day off. After breakfast, I took Finn to my sitting room for playtime, simply enjoying the presence of my son. He was sitting up by himself and loved to play peekaboo, laughing riotously every time I reappeared from behind my hands.
When I put Finn down for his nap, I called Daisy to talk about her internship. I was eager to get together since she’d found an apartment in Boston, but so far, our schedules hadn't meshed. I also knew how much Daisy crushed on my personal assistant, and I wanted to get her and Wyatt together if I could. It would be fun to watch how that particular relationship progressed, considering the way Daisy mentioned him every chance she got. Unfortunately, her parents had spoken to my parents, and now mine knew without a doubt that I was officially Mrs. Burke Gallagher. I had mailed pictures of Finn to my parents, but I had no idea if they'd gotten them or not. They wouldn't answer my calls or acknowledge I existed, and hadn't since the rumors of me and Burke getting together had proven true.
What I truly missed was seeing Danny and Brenda. Talking to them on the phone and even video calling wasn't the same as being there in person, though I continued to make an effort to speak with them as often as possible. I'd never gotten around to seeing what Burke thought about taking a trip to Bristol or even inviting them to stay at the house for a few days. We had more than enough space in our maze of guest rooms, but the reason I hadn't brought it up was the sensitivity of the subject. It wasn't just Burke hating Daniel; it was Daniel hating Burke, too. I had no idea how to explain to my friends that not only had Burke and I made up, but I was currently serving as his counselor. It wasn't something I thought I could explain to myself, much less someone not embroiled in the life we led. Danny didn't understand how I condoned the violent nature of our business as the daughter of a cop, and he didn't want to hear anything I had to say about my husband. In return, I reconsidered saying anything to Burke about Danny because I had no desire to play mediator.
At lunchtime, Maddie came over, giving me a pleasant change of pace. It wasn't often that just the two of us had time together since Maddie became Finn's nanny and both of us started school.
I greeted her with a hug. "Let's eat out on the terrace. The weather has warmed up nicely."
It was April now, and I loved taking as many chances to use the garden as I was able, as well as dining outdoors. On the days I had the chance, I enjoyed swimming or walking around the property and enjoying the peace. Those days were my best chance of feeling normal in an abnormal world.
"Sounds great," Maddie replied.
Wyatt set the table for us, and Parker served before leaving us alone. Maddie appeared to be bursting with something, so I asked her before we ate.
She bounced in her seat a little before holding out her left hand. "Caden proposed!"
"Oh, Maddie!"
"It happened last night, and I almost called you, but then I thought I'd stop by and tell you in person instead."
I studied the ring, pleased it suited Maddie so perfectly and that my friend was glowing. "I'm so happy for you."
"We're talking about a September wedding, and I want you to be my matron of honor."
I sat back in my chair. That was only a few months away. "Oh, wow. Really?"
"Definitely. Caden is asking Burke to be his best man, and I know it will be just right." She paused to roll her eyes. "Except I think he wants to ask Logan and Anna to stand up for us, too. Which, blech. But she's his cousin, and there's no way I can justify not allowing them to be part of his day."
"As long as she keeps her mouth shut, it'll be fine."
"We'll see. I'm not afraid to cut a bitch on my wedding day." Maddie took a sip of her drink before saying, "Oh, Kinsley, can Finny be the ring bearer? I'll have to figure out who can bring him down the aisle; maybe my mom?"
I pictured ten-month-old Finn in a suit and gave a contented sigh. "He'll be so cute."
"He really will."
I passed a platter to Maddie. "Do you have anything chosen, like colors or location?"
"Not especially, but I have some ideas in mind for dresses. Nothing too hideous, I promise. Maybe in sapphire blue."
"That sounds nice." And I looked pretty good in blue.
There was a comfortable silence for a few minutes before Maddie said, "I've been with him for a year now, Kinsley. I'm scared and thrilled and anxious and nauseous all rolled into one."
"Why are you scared?"
