“Ok, lay on the table and give me a second to finish up this.”She motions to her computer.

I nod my head and settle on the table.I watch her work and when she tries to stand, I chuckle and shake my head.

“How are you feeling?”

“Sore. No one tells you how much pushing a baby out of your body really just drains you.”She smiles as she glances over at the bassinet sitting in the corner of the room.“I don’t know how Winnie’s doing it with a toddler running around.Pregnancy is rough.”

“Well, she’s still pretty early in her pregnancy.”

“Yeah, but that’s when you’re really tired.Honestly, I look at my mom all the time and think she’s a superhero. There’s no other explanation.I was around four when the twins were born and they weren’t even two when Sophia was born.Like how did she do it?”

“She had no choice.”I shrug my shoulders.“Is it difficult to work after just having Carter?Should you even be back at work?”

“Technically, no, I shouldn’t be back yet.I’m basically just doing paperwork and evaluating what you guys need before handing you off to someone else.I’d rather be here the entire season. It makes it easier.Plus, Owen and Wyatt make it easy. They both demand I take a lot of breaks and no one cares if I walk away to take care of Carter. They’re always watching and they step in when I need help.I truly don’t know what I would do if I was working for a different team.”

“Well, you don’t need to worry about that because you’re never leaving the Pit Bulls,” Owen growls.I swear the man has a sixth sense about these types of conversations. He’ll pop up out of nowhere and put people in their place.

“If you ever trade Wyatt, I'm going with him.Sorry, big guy, husbands before team owners.”She shrugs like it’s no big deal.

“Why would I trade Wyatt? That would be stupid on my part.”

“You never know what could happen.”

“Do you want me to sign a contract that as long as he’s playing, he has a spot on the team?”

“No, that would be crazy.”Charlie rolls her eyes as she starts moving my right arm and feeling how the muscles are doing.

“Just as crazy as you working somewhere else,” he grumbles under his breath.

“We’ll see how you feel when Carter doesn’t sleep the majority of the day.”She waves him off as she turns her back on him.

I swear the girls around here could say almost anything to Owen and he’d still be smiling and bending over backwards to keep them happy. He definitely loves them the most.

“I actually wanted to talk to you about that…” Owen trails off, making Charlie lift her gaze to meet mine. There’s worry and fear staring back at me.

“What do you mean?”

“I want to turn the conference room on this floor into a daycare.I have a feeling you and Macy won't be comfortable leaving the babies for a while.”

“Who are you going to have babysit them?”

“Well, I was thinking of hiring a nanny with a lot of experience.”I can hear the smile in his voice even without looking at him.

“I really hope you’re talking about Winnie.I love that woman.”Charlie spins around to face Owen with her hands planted on her hips.

“She’s at the top of my list.I didn’t want to ask her until I spoke to you and Macy. You could obviously benefit from it already and Macy doesn’t have long before she’ll need it too.I know Winnie will be having her baby around the time the season ends.I was thinking of seeing if any of the moms from Mulberry Lane would want to fill in if Winnie needs help or if she doesn’t want to do it and I need to find someone else. For now, you can keep Carter with you while you work and if you need help, I’ll make sure you have some.”

“Why do I have a feeling he’ll be the one wearing a baby on his chest all day?”I smirk.

“Because he will be.I think we’ll need to get him a carrier that holds two babies. He can carry Carter and Emmett at the same time then.”Charlie grins.

“Maybe I should make you and Macy find your own childcare and stress out about strangers watching your kids,” Owen huffs, folding his arms over his chest.

“No!”Charlie hurries over to him and wraps her arms around his waist the best she can with her stomach.“Thank you, Owen. You’re the best boss ever.”

“You could just call me dad.”He flashes me a devilish grin.

“Oh, I cannot!I already have a pretty amazing dad and an equally amazing father-in-law.Carter will be confused if I call a third man dad.”
