Dad: What’s going on between you and Covey?*stroking chin emoji*
IgroanasIread his text when I wake up the next morning.I don’t have it in me to deal with the overprotective side of Owen Powell this early in the day.
Cici: Nothing is going on, Dad.*rolling eye emoji*
Dad: You say that, but you have a history of lying to me when it comes to boys.*arching brow emoji*
Cici: Then why even ask me?*smirking emoji*
Dad: Maybe I'm just hoping you’ll eventually trust me.*about to cry emoji*
Cici: I do trust you.*heart emoji*
Dad: Fine, but if he tries anything with you, he’s fired.
Cici: Oh my gosh!Leave Covey alone.
Cici: Fine! He’s staying with me while his house is renovated. They had to gut his kitchen and half of his house after there was a massive leak.He doesn’t have power for a while.I'm rarely home other than when I'm sleeping and I have three spare bedrooms.I figured I could help a friend out.
Dad: Okay… I’ll believe you for now.*side eye emoji* But I’ll be keeping my eye on both of you.
Cici: Ok, Dad.If you’re bored, maybe you should go watch Emmett so Cord and Macy can take a nap.
I smirk as I send my last text.Maybe Emmett can help his favorite aunt out and keep Grandpa busy for a while.
Dad: Nice diversion.Luckily for you, it’s working.I’ll tell Macy and Cord they can thank you for the idea.*devil emoji*
I sigh as I climb out of bed.I'm sure I’ll be getting a text from Cord or Macy soon, complaining about Dad overstepping boundaries.
When I'm done getting ready for my day, I head out to the kitchen to get something for breakfast.I find Covey sitting at the island with a plate of food in front of him.
“Morning,” I say as I head straight towards the coffee maker.
“The coffee is fresh.I made it about five minutes ago.I also made you a plate of food. It’s in the microwave.”Covey nods towards the appliance.
“Thank you.You didn’t need to do that.”
“It’s the least I could do.I’ll make a grocery list and grab some things tonight after the game.I’ll make sure to replace the things I used.”
“Stop it.”I chuckle and shake my head.“I'm not worried about you using some eggs and breakfast meat.”
“Yeah, I know, but I don’t want you to get annoyed with having me here.I appreciate your hospitality more than you know.”
“I think it would be pretty hard to annoy your girlfriend just by your presence.”I smile as I lean in and kiss him.
“Man, I could get used to this first thing in the morning,” he murmurs against my lips, making me giggle.
Covey tugs my stool closer to him and wraps his arms around my waist.
“Did you get enough sleep last night?”
“No,” I sigh, leaning my head against his shoulder.“I'm exhausted, but I wanted to see you before you head into work.I'm just happy it’s Sunday and I don’t need to work.”
“Are you coming to the game?”
“I was planning on it.”I barely get the words out before a yawn overtakes me.
“You don’t have to come, sweetheart. Why don’t you stay home and take a nap?”
