That was the type of dirty talk he preferred. He obliged, slamming into her until she whimpered. Shuddering, she climaxed with his name on her lips and he followed close behind, his fingers savagely latching onto her hips. That was definitely going to leave a mark too.

“Fuck!” He was still pumping even after every drop had been drained from his body. “Thank you, Alfred,” he murmured, resting his heavy head on her back as he tried to get his breath back.

Her upper body relaxed and with a small moan, she dropped against the mattress. “Kevin…should I be worried that you call out a guy’s name in bed? This is not the first time.”

“That shouldn’t worry you at all.” He flipped her over on the bed, spread her legs and crawled between them. “Let’s do it again.”

Still in Amarillo, Texas

Jasmin walked out of the bathroom and saw Kevin sitting on the bed. He was barely dressed, didn’t even have a shirt on and showed no sense of urgency to get back on the road.

“Are you ready to go?” she asked, hoping the question would get his ass in gear.

He stood up and closed the gap between them. “Yeah, I’m ready to go.” He grabbed a fistful of her sweater and pulled her towards him. “Back to bed.”

“No!” She pulled out of his grip and tried to move towards the door.

He stepped in front of her, flashing her a naughty grin, and she already felt her resolve weakening. She had no defenses when he looked at her like that. She moved to the left and then to the right and he blocked her path each time, looking very amused at the cat and mouse game they were playing.

“We are leaving today,” she said firmly.

“No, we’re not.”

He grabbed her around the waist and tossed her over his shoulder like some kind of cave-man.

“You’re a barbarian!” she shouted, smacking his ass as he carried her back to the bed.

A barely interested chuckle was all she got in response. He dropped her onto the mattress and pinned both her wrists against the bed as his body covered hers. Her resistance melted as soon as his mouth touched her neck. She was putty in his hands in no time. He’d awoken a sexual desire within her and it never took him long to get her hot and aching for him. Using onehand to keep her wrists above her head, his other hand moved over her breast and down her stomach to unbutton her jeans. As soon as his hand slipped into her panties, a sexy grin curved on his lips.

“So wet for me, Jasmin?” he teased. He lightly stroked his fingers along her entrance before sliding them inside her and she had to bite her lip to stop a gasp. “And here I thought you wanted to leave.”

“I do…” She was breathless and desperately grinding against him, but she still tried to reason with him. “Kevin…Fuck…We need to leave. We can’t…just stay at this motel and have sex all day.”

“Of course, we can.” His tongue traced over her bottom lip in a way that was almost predatory. “I’ll prove it to you.”

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

He’d told her nothing had changed, but a lot had changed. Somehow he was different yet still the same. He still had an abrasive sense of humor, but every day he let his guard down a little more and his softer side was beginning to make Jasmin weak in the knees. She was trying to not get sucked in too deep. He was an enigma, a person she shouldn’t trust. When he was cold, he was so cold, lashing out with rude remarks and curt comments. But when he was hot, he was so…so…hot. It wasn’t just about the sex. Hot, mind-blowing sex was just a bonus. It was the way he kissed her, the way he brushed her hair back, the way he spoke to her for hours even though he hated talking. He was attentive and affectionate, so different from the person she’d met almost a month ago. He made her feel cherished and special and…wanted.

Though, some things were still the same. Last night she’d made the mistake of asking him about Perry. It was strange. During the last few days he’d spoken to her openly about everything, but when Perry’s name was mentioned, he instantly withdrew. There were no fights or arguments, but he’d been distant ever since. It was almost like he was consciously trying not to think about it and as soon as he did, it was a reminder that he shouldn’t be happy. He was carrying around so much guilt because he was the only one who came out of the accident unharmed and he felt like he didn’t deserve to be happy when the lives of the others had been destroyed.

He hadn’t said much and even during the drive to Oklahoma; he’d just stared out the window, looking lost and alone, reminding her of their very first day of their road trip.

She sat down on the grass outside the spherical-shaped building. The sun was beginning to set and the Myriad Botanical Gardens began to light up. The array of neon colors shining through the glass windows were captivating, blues and pinks and greens illuminating the evening sky. The Christmas lights strewn across the trees outside reflected on the water and made her feel like she was trapped in a magical paradise.

It was really cold today (well, at least she thought so. Kevin was waltzing around in a T-shirt). She was shivering, but after being stuck in a motel room for three days, she wanted to bask in the fresh air and the ambience of the city. Kevin returned a few minutes later with two tuna bagels he’d bought from a nearby street vendor. He handed one to her and sat down beside her, leaving a fair amount of distance between them.

“I’m tired of food on the go,” Jasmin complained, removing the cling wrap from her bagel. “I’m dying to have a good home-cooked meal. It would’ve been nice to have one today…it’s Thanksgiving today, right?”

He only nodded.

“What does your family do on Thanksgiving?”

“Nothing,” he replied with a shrug. “Christmas is the only holiday we celebrate, because it’s the only time Jordan and Max come home. My mom won’t do anything without them there.”
