“Mmhm,” I murmured, reaching behind me to bring Otto’s hand up to rest on my belly. “It was amazing, Otto. If you’re trying to convince me to let you claim me, I think you might have done it.”

Otto’s breath was warm and humid on my neck when he snickered. “As much as I appreciate the glowing endorsement, It would be irresponsible of me to let you make such a big decision when you’re orgasm drunk.”

I laughed. “It would, huh?”

“Yup,” Otto confirmed, nibbling lightly on my neck. “I want you to be mine, but I want to be sure you mean it whenyou agree. I don’t ever want you to doubt my love for you or my devotion to our family again. Deal?”

I sighed and melted even closer to him. “Deal, Alpha.” I was so close to falling asleep when I remembered a question from earlier. “Otto?”

“Yeah, baby?”

“What was the emergency that we needed baking stuff for?”

Otto snorted. “Go to sleep, Dex. I’ll tell you tomorrow.”

Otto

I was awake long before Dex the next morning which gave me time to cuddle him to my chest while I tried to figure out how to broach the topic ofwhyI tried to put together the perfect night for him. I agreed with Taylor that I needed to, that it wasn’t fair to try and manipulate Dex into a more favorable memory but that didn’t tell me how to do it without seeming like an even bigger dick.

I was thinking -possibly overthinking- so hard that I didn’t notice when my Omega began to wake up, so I startled a bit when his soft voice came from the pillow.

“You’re thinking really hard back there.” He snickered when I jerked. “Sorry. Didn’t mean to catch you off guard.”

“It’s okay.” I stroked my hand down Dex’s chest to rest on his belly, smiling into his hair when he sighed. “Just didn’t realize you were awake.”

Dex yawned and stretched, rubbing our bodies together when he moved before easing over to face me. “Talk to me?”

“Sure,” I agreed, pressing a kiss to his lips. “What about?”

Dex laughed. “Whatever has you thinking so hard this morning.” When I didn’t answer, he stiffened in my arms. “Or not, I guess. I should probably get up, anyway.”

“Hey, no. Don’t go.” I blew out a frustrated breath. “I want to talk to you about it. I’ve been trying to figure out how to without making you hate me.”

Yeah, if I was trying to make things better, well, thatwasn’t the way. Dex stiffened even further and placed his hand on my chest to push me away.

“Came to your senses, huh?” Dex sounded more sad than angry. “Don’t worry about it, Otto. Like I told you, I didn’t expect it to last. I’ll get out of your hair.”

“Baby, no.” I caught Dex’s wrist as he tried to move away. “That is absolutely not what I’m thinking.”

Dex didn’t answer. He didn’t pull his wrist back but also didn’t let me pull him back to me. Instead, he shifted to sit up and leaned against the headboard, his arm limp in my grip and his eyes trained on the comforter.

I swallowed a sigh. I didn’t know what the right way to do this was, but I’d definitely found a wrong way. What’s the old saying? In for a dime, in for a dollar? Whatever, the sentiment was the same, so I decided to just go for it and hope for the best.

“Taylor told me what I did to you,” I said, ignoring the tremble in my voice.

Instead of clearing anything up, Dex just looked confused when he looked up. “Which part?”

“Um, the night. The first one.”

Somehow I was muddling it up as I tried to clear the air because Dex just stared at me a little wide-eyed before sighing.“Okay. Then maybe if I call him he can tell me what the hell is going on.”

The bitterness in his voice made me wince. “Let me try again?”

Dex huffed but nodded, pulling his wrist back to cross his arms over his chest.

I drew in a centering breath and ripped off the band aid. “About our first time. That you were waiting for me and I,” I swallowed and forced the words out, “raped you out in the woods. I don’t expect you to forgive me for that, but I was hoping last night could replace that as our first time. That maybe we could have a, um, a mulligan?”
