When he’d first suggested I test the connection, the method he’d offered had shocked me to my core. Then, as I’d waited for hours and then days to see my Alpha again, the idea had grown on me to the point that I was almost vibrating with anticipation now that the moment had arrived.

My bulk made it harder to move than it had just a few weeks earlier, but I was able to shift to kneel over Roger and reach back to ensure that the prep I’d done earlier still had me ready to take my Alpha. Gripping his hard member, I lowered my weight down until he was fully sheathed in me and we were both shivering.

“Oh, Gods, baby,” Roger hissed as my body tightened around him. “So fucking tight. You were made just for me!”

“You told me that before,” I commented with a smile. When Roger put pressure against my bottom to get me to move, I shook my head. “Not yet,” I murmured, trying to catch my breath. I reached for his face, cupping his cheeks in my hands as I stared into his eyes, concentrating on the connection between us.

Light suddenly flared in Roger’s eyes and the air between us crackled with energy. I thought back to that night, starting when I’d heard the noise outside the cabin and found Roger in werewolf form, delirious and struggling to open the door with his claws. I watched in his eyes as he saw me remember pulling him inside and wrapping him in my arms, finding the wound on his hip when he hissed in pain. As tempting as it was to skip the less-exciting parts, I let him see me clean and bandage it before he dragged me onto his lap, growling into my ear in the deep, rough timber of his beast.

I let him feel the pleasure that had coursed through me when the massive werewolf holding me had offered apologies for getting hurt, assurances that he would always come home to me, when fingers tipped by razer-sharp claws had skimmed my belly so gently that I’d barely felt the touch.

I shared with him the shock and joy when the beast had told me I was his mate, his forever, when he grunted out words of love and devotion that had me trembling just remembering them. In the present I was vaguely aware of Roger throbbing inside me as the past continued to replay and he saw me begging him to claim me forever, going rigid when he saw me grab his shaggy hair and dragging his mouth to my neck, demanding that he bite me, claim me, make me his for all time.

There was wonder in Roger’s eyes when they started to clear. “You wanted it,” he said gruffly. “You asked me to claim you.”

I nodded, still holding his eyes as shivers raced up and down my spine. “And I knew what it would mean, how it would change me when I did,” I confirmed, determined to hold my own. “You offered to be my Alpha before I knew what that really meant, but now that I do, now that I understand, I’m asking you to be my Alpha, Roger.”

I pressed our lips together, smirking a little when his fangs scraped my lips, assuring me that he was closer to the edge of his control than he wanted me to know. Without breaking our eye contact, I leaned my head to the side, baring my neck in an invitation that I knew was as old as time and had the creature inside me begging in whimpering, whining sounds that echoed through my soul.

Roger’s chest was rising in rapid, panting breaths and for a brief moment I thought he might refuse, insist on yet more conversation, but instead, he drew back his lips and bared his teeth, leaning down to sink them into the barely healed flesh with a snarling growl of ownership that raced through me.

Our bodies throbbed together as our heartbeats synced and I spent between us at the same moment that Roger’s hot seed flooded my body. Then there was a delicious pressure I hadn’t felt before and Roger was knotting me, his member was stretching me past my limits and locking us together, making me beg and babble as I pulsed around him, feeling another gush of his release bathing my insides.

“Oh, fuck, Ari!” Roger’s eyes were wild and tinged with yellow and there was blood on his lips, myblood on his lips as he stared at me as though I’d just built the world itself for him. “Oh, Gods, baby.” He leaned our foreheads together, our breath mingling as we fought for air. “That was..” Roger shook his head, looking dazed.

I nodded. “Yeah, it was.”

“You really wanted it,” Roger mumbled. “You were willing to be a monster to be with me.”

I couldn’t help but laugh. “When you’re ready for round two I’ll show you the rest,” I teased.

“There’s more?” Roger narrowed his eyes at me.

“Oh, there’s more,” I said with a smirk, snuggling as close into his arms as my belly would allow and resting my head on his shoulder since we seemed to be locked in the sitting position for the foreseeable future.

“Such as?”

I smiled and kissed his shoulder. “Well, there were several hours between you coming home and your team showing up looking for you,” I reminded him. “And you were quite determined to take full advantage of the opportunity to ensure I was thoroughly bred.” I chuckled into his skin. “At this point, we’ll be lucky if I don’t drop an entire freaking litter of baby werewolves instead of just one.”

That startled a laugh out of Roger and then he stilled, and I knew he was remembering.

“The black werewolf in my hallucinations,” he said slowly. “That was you?”

“Probably,” I agreed sleepily. “Were you committing unspeakable acts that could possibly be construed as bestiality by the religious community?”

Roger snorted and choked on a laugh. “Well, it’s a little disturbing when you put it that way, but yes.”

I sighed contentedly. “Then that was definitely me and I’d really like to revisit those memories just as soon as I have a little nap.”

Chapter Twenty-Nine

Roger

“You’re absolutely sure that this is what you want to do?” Alfried raised a concerned brow in my direction, tapping the paper on the desk in front of him with his index finger. “There are other options, you know, son. You can extend your leave of absence, for one.”

I’d already extended my medical leave and supplemented it with some of my accrued vacation time to spend every minute of the previous two months with my new mate as our bond settled and he adjusted to life as not just a werewolf but apregnant, committed werewolf. Those days were the closest thing to heaven that I could imagine and I was definitely on board with more of them.

“I appreciate it, sir, but I’m certain.” I was so certain that I had to stifle a smile just thinking about the relieved expression I’d see on Ari’s face when I got home later and told him what I’d done for him, for us.
