I craned my head to see into the bassinet in the corner, not that I thought he would lie to me. Sure enough, our little princess was snuggled up tight. “Why are you crying?”
Jeremy reached out for me and I took his hand, pulling him into my arms and laying my cheek on his soft hair. “Baby, you’re scaring me. What happened?”
“Nothing,” Jeremy sniffled. “I was skimming through the movie Chuck left.”
“Okay.” Yeah, that really told me nothing. “And?”
My Omega pushed at me until I dropped onto my butt on the couch, then crawled onto my lap and reached for the remote, hitting play. “And this.”
He’d started the recording just before the nurses had lifted him into the whelping crate, laying him on the thick, soft foam pad. I watched the grainy footage as they backed away from the snarling Alpha hyena approaching his mate stiff-legged, making way as I climbed into the box with Jeremy.
I coughed. “Oh, yeah, I overreacted a bit.” I tightened my arms in a quick hug. “Sorry if I embarrassed you, love.”
“What? No!” Jeremy denied immediately. “Besides, that wasn’t the part that made me cry. Keep watching.”
I returned my gaze to the television. On the screen, I was trying to soothe my laboring mate, rubbing our cheeks together and licking his belly each time his body stiffened through another contraction.
“That,” Jeremy sniffled. “You never left my side.”
“Of course not, Jem,” I said softly. “I know we didn’t talk much about it, but what did you think had happened?”
“I don’t know, Kade,” my Omega said honestly, wiping the tears from his eyes. “You were just so sweet. I wish I remembered it.”
Oh.
“No worries,” I growled in his ear, rubbing his still shrinking belly. “Next time we’ll make sure you’re awake for it,” I teased him gently. “And the time after that, and the time after that.”
Jeremy froze for a minute and then spun on my lap, straddling me and bringing our foreheads together. “Are you serious?” he asked, his eyes wide. “You’d want kids with me?”
I just laughed and kissed his nose. “Of course I wantmorekids with you,” I assured him, nuzzling his cheek. “You were sexy as fuck all pregnant and horny. I think we should start practicing again as soon as the doc says it’s okay.”
“Hmm,” Jeremy’s grin turned decidedly wicked as he slipped off my lap to kneel between my knees, reaching for the zipper on my jeans. “Well, I know one thing I’m already cleared for.”
He pulled my cock free and swallowed it, his throat tightening perfectly around my length, and, just like that, I forgot all about the little square of paper folded up in my pocket.
Chapter Thirty
Jeremy
I was still on my knees in front of my Alpha, my head resting on his thigh with his thick taste lingering on my tongue when he shifted his leg and something poked me in the ear.
“What was that?” I reached up to rub my ear and my fingers scraped across a sharp point. Grasping it, I pulled a tightly folded square of paper from Kade’s pocket. “What’s this?”
“Hmm?” My man was still barely coherent even though it had been several minutes since he’d flooded my mouth with his seed. “Oh, class list for ODI.” Kade yawned and stroked my head. “Chuck needs you to sign up for something as soon as possible, just in case the marriage isn’t certified immediately. It lets them keep you here.”
“Yeah?” I turned so I was sitting on the floor, leaning back inside his spread legs and unfolded the paper. “Art, Anthropology, Astronomy, Aerospace,” I read out loud. “They seriously offer all of these classes?”
“One way or another,” Kade agreed. “Some of the less technical classes are taught on-site, while the other ones the students are bussed to the community college for.”
“That’s really cool,” I commented, still reading. “I always wanted to go to college, but, well, my mom wasn’t wasting those resources on a male, especially not an Omega male.”
Behind me, Kade growled.
“It’s okay,” I tried to assure him. “Really.”
“You pick whatever you want, Jem,” Kade ordered, kissing my head. “I’ve got you.”
I laughed. “Right. Because it makes sense to waste your money educating an Omega who has already started breeding.” I kissed his thigh. “Not really much point in that. Who would take care of Bella while I was in class or working.” I kissed his other thigh. “But I appreciate the thought.”
