“Sixty-three, self-employed, widowed,” Lamar read off the profile. “I guess that explains why no one reported him missing. What does this code mean?”

Mandy followed his finger and smiled. “It means he’s into power play and forced submission,” she explained. “That would explain why she was able to get the upper hand so easily.”

“How would he have gained access the night he was here?” Genov asked hesitantly. “I mean, the club was closed, wasn’t it?”

Mandy nodded. “The guard on duty let him in because the woman masquerading as me said he was expected.”

“So, she was already inside?”

“Yeah,” Lamar interjected. “It's all in the report.” He offered Mandy an apologetic smile. “Sorry, I haven’t had a chance to get him back in the loop yet.”

“It’s not a problem,” Mandy assured him. She turned to Genov. “I left the club at just after ten in the morning and went home to bed. According to the security guard, the impersonator rang the bell a little after eight that night and told him I had forgotten my purse, so I didn’t have my keys or phone.”

Genov nodded, his eyes sharp.

“When he let her in, she told him I had a private client coming in and asked to be notified when he arrived. Once she was notified that Mr. Thomas arrived, she gave specific instructions that they were not to be interrupted.”

“And when she left?” Genov asked curiously. “She just walked out the front door?”

Lamar and Mandy exchanged a look.

“Actually, no one mentioned seeing her leave,” Mandy said slowly. “We all saw her leave the room on the video, but I don’t remember anyone mentioning her leaving the club.”

Lamar nodded. “But the entire property has been searched and no sign of her was found.” There was a pause before his head jerked up. “Ms. Clauneot, thank you for your help.” He looked at Genov. “We need to get back to work.”

Genov was nearly trotting to keep up with Lamar as he strode toward the parking lot. Once the driver’s door slammed shut, he turned to Lamar. “Okay. You figured something out in there. What is it?”

“I’m not sure,” Lamar said tightly. “We need to go over the list of department personnel who were at theAfter Ninescene.”
