Epilogue

Sky

Colt wasn’t kidding when he told me that we were going to discuss our future when we woke.

Well,discussmight be overstating it.

In actuality, I was woken by the scent of hot coffee and bacon, two of my absolute favorite things. After Colt, of course.

I cracked my eyes open and found my beautiful Alpha standing over me, gloriously naked and holding a wooden tray.

“Hi,” I yawned before letting my eyes rove over him. “Mm. You should come back to bed.”

Colt shook his head. “We have unfinished business, Sky.”

I cocked my head. “We do?”

He nodded and slid a piece of paper out from under the plate on the tray, handing it to me.

“Application for Coruscation Pack Vetting,” I read aloud. Skimming it, I saw that the entire form had been filled out in Colt’s neatly printed handwriting, all it needed was my signature. “I think you goofed,” I said, shaking my head. When Colt raised a brow, I pointed to the claim status box. “You marked the wrong one.”

“Did I?” Colt’s second brow joined the first.

“Well, yeah,” I laughed. “You markedconsensual claim. Theunclaimedbox is the one over it.” I shook my head. “Easy mistake.”

“It wasn’t a mistake,” Colt disagreed, his warm brown eyes trapping mine. He pulled a small box from his pocket and handed it to me. Inside, I found a silver ring shaped like a dog collar with a buckle made of tiny diamonds. “Will you allow me to claim you, Sky?”

My jaw dropped as I stared at him. “But…you don’t have to do that to be with me,” I argued weakly. “You know I can’t have pups anymore. Wouldn’t you rather wait for a real Omega instead of one you salvaged from a trash heap?”

Colt snarled and his eyes flashed. “No one talks about my mate like that,” he hissed at me. “Not even you. Understand?”

I wasn’t sure what to say to that, so I just nodded and he took a deep breath.

“I already have kids, Sky, you know that. And youarea real Omega,” he said, shaking his head. “But even if you were a Beta, a regular human, or, hell, another Alpha, you’re who I want and I’d find a way to make it work.” He was so damned earnest that I had to smile. “Now, will you please let me claim you?”

What was I supposed to say to that?

I lifted the ring out of the box and handed it to him, holding my left hand out. When Colt slid the ring on my finger, he leaned forward and kissed me, then hugged me tightly.

“Now will you come back to bed?” I asked, running my hand over his naked butt.

Colt sighed. “Actually, the reason I was waking you up was that the COPSD team scheduled an update on the case.” He nuzzled my cheek. “I didn’t want you to wake up and find me gone.”

In the end, it was Trevor that suggested that he and I accompany the Alphas into town for the update on the case that had resulted in Foxy’s being raided.

“If it’s boring, we can always get some shopping in,” he said with a laugh.

It wasn’t like I had anything else to do, so I agreed. To my surprise, sitting in the chair between him and Colt at the crowded conference table, I was anything but bored.

Actually, I was kind of fascinated.

There were two whiteboards at the front of the room. One had a list of dates and events, and the other had eight by ten-inch photographs held to it by little round magnets. Each picture was linked to the others by a web of marker lines in different colors.

Cal’s picture was there, along with Dr. Murphy and the profile picture of Alexi from the dating site, but there were more. The Omega called Christy, who’d been Cal’s original Omega, was linked to Cal in red. I saw Trevor tear up when he looked at her. There was a man with shiny black hair next to a question mark. There was a picture of the intruder I’d fought off at Colt’s house, he was linked by a dotted line to Alexi and to another familiar face.

“I know him,” I said suddenly.
