“No, of course not. You know me better than that.”

“Truer words were never spoken.” A smile curved Wolf’s lips, and a wave of love hit Spencer. Hard. They’d slipped into this relationship so fast, he had no idea how it all happened, but he needed to make Wolf smile more because he was so damn gorgeous when he was happy. Spencer didn’t see it often enough. “Now come here.” Wolf patted the space next to him, and this time he listened.

“Okay, what?”

“Remember when you told me the story of how your father treated you? When he took your mother’s magazines and tore them apart?”

Tears sprang to his eyes. “Yeah. I’ll never forget coming home and finding them all in a pile on my bed.”

Wolf extended a package to him. “Open.”

Heart thudding painfully, Spencer stared at the plain-wrapped bundle in Wolf’s hands. “What did you do?”

“Again with the questions?” His gaze softened, grew tender. “Spence. Go ahead.”

Gingerly, Spencer lifted the heavy package and set it on his lap. When he ripped open the brown paper, he saw them all: everyVoguemagazine from the ’70s and ’80s, and a selection ofGQmagazines. Shocked, he slid out the first one and flipped through it, then ran his fingers over the smooth covers.

“No way. How did you do this?” He sniffled. “I can’t believe this. Some of these are collectors’ items.”

“You’re happy?” Wolf held him, and Spencer rested his head on his shoulder.

“Happy? I’m overwhelmed. You did this for me?” He spread out a bunch of magazines, but there were too many for his lap. With care, he stacked them neatly and put them on the coffee table. “Thank you.” He kissed Wolf. “I love you. Thank you, thank you.” He threw his arms around Wolf’s neck and peppered his face with kisses.

“I wanted to see you happy, and I know how much they meant to you, because they were a part of your relationship with your mother.”

“You’re incredible.” Those lost, lonely years of wild nights only made him more grateful for what he had now. “No one has ever thought of me or treated me like this.”

“Then I’m glad to be your first.”

Their eyes met, and they shared a smile. Taking care not to bend the pages or drop them, Spencer moved the collection to a safe place in the bookcase and returned to Wolf with their drinks in hand.

“Cheers.” Spencer lifted his glass. “I have so much to tell you about what happened to me today.”

“I have things to say as well, but you first.” Wolf sipped his drink.

“Well…” Excitement burst through him. “I went to talk to Bianca this morning, to try and help her with the outreach for the designer consignment and branching off into their own line of home goods and luxury items.”

Wolf nodded. “I remember. It’s a good idea. Most hotels now sell their own products.”

“Exactly. Anyway, André made the suggestion that Webster hire me as their luxury-brand director, and Bianca loved the idea. She’d give me full creative control, and we’d work as a team. It might mean some travel for me, but I’ve always had to go to Europe for the shows, so it wouldn’t be anything new.”

Wolf grabbed him into a hug. “Spence, that’s amazing. An incredible opportunity. I’m thrilled for you and proud as hell. You deserve it for how hard you’ve worked. Everyone sees how you give your all to whatever you do.”

“Or whomever?” He raised a brow, loving the fact that he could still make Wolf blush. “I told them I’ll give them my answer after I talk to Christo. Funny that even though he has no loyalty to me, I still feel I have a responsibility to the store.”

“That’s because he’s a terrible person and you have a work ethic. When are you going to speak to him?”

“Tomorrow. Now, what did you want to talk to me about?”

Wolf set his drink on the table, and Spencer tensed at the sudden hardness in his jaw. Normally he loved Wolf’s hard and bossy side, but something looked off.

“I saw your father today.”

Yeah. That would do it.

“Did the piece of shit give you what you need to put away those bastards he worked with?”

Wolf’s lips twitched. “Not yet, but I have a good feeling. Plus, I’m still waiting to hear from the judge again, now that I’ve informed him I have a personal relationship with you.”
