The moment they reached the dance floor, the music slowed. Anthony wrapped his arms around Wolf’s waist, and with a sigh, rested his head on his shoulder. Wolf had no intention of becoming so intimate with the man but didn’t know how to push him off without creating a scene, so he allowed himself to be held.

“God, you’re so fucking sexy. Have I told you?” Anthony’s hot breath hit his neck, and Wolf winced, wondering why those words made him cringe and the feel of Anthony’s lips on his skin did nothing for him.

Not like Spencer’s…

Edging closer, Anthony nestled his hips flush with Wolf’s, and he felt the man’s stiffness. He took a step back, but Anthony misunderstood.

“Yeah. I was thinking that too. C’mon. I know a quiet place.”

“Wh-wait, what?”

“Shh, don’t worry. No one will see us.”

Wolf let himself be led off the dance floor, feeling as uncertain as a child. They took a few turns before Anthony stopped and pushed up on him, lips sucking at his neck. Funny how Spencer’s lips barely touched his ear and he ached to be kissed all over, while all he wanted to do here was take a shower. He felt as if his balls would hide inside his body if they could.

“You smell so good and drive me crazy. Feel.” He took Wolf’s hand in his and pressed it to his crotch.

Wolf grimaced and tried to pull away. “Slow down.”

“Oh, you like playing hard to get? Don’t worry, lover. I plan to take it as slow as you want.” He rocked his pelvis into Wolf. Why didn’t Anthony notice how soft he was? How unexcited?

“I don’t want that at all. Let go.”

Anthony hummed. “You just need to loosen up. I told you last night how tense you seem. Sex is a great release.” He crushed his lips over Wolf’s, tongue probing, seeking entrance. Caught off-guard, Wolf hesitated for only a moment before attempting to twist away, but it turned out to be a moment too long.

“Well, my goodness. What do we have here?”

Wolf froze at the familiar, mocking voice.

“Gentlemen, if you want to get it on, may I suggest a room? So much more private and less messy. My delicate eyes, after all.”

His brain returning to functioning normally, Wolf wrenched away from Anthony to see Spencer standing in front of him, blue eyes bright with scorn.

“I told you to get off me, you asshole,” he snarled. With deliberation, he wiped his mouth, and Anthony’s face tightened, growing red with anger.

“Fucking cock tease.” Anthony whipped around and strode away, leaving him and Spencer staring at each other.

Utterly humiliated that it had to be Spencer, of all people, seeing him in this state, Wolf ran a hand through his hair and made an attempt to salvage his dignity. If he was being honest with himself, he was surprised Spencer hadn’t laid into him with his sharp tongue. And, Wolf had to admit, he would’ve deserved it. As it was, he was disconcerted to be caught off guard like this. It had been years since he’d found himself in a situation where he had no idea what to say. But, he decided, short and simple was best.

“Thank you. I didn’t intend for that to happen. I’m not interested in public sex. Or any sex with him, for that matter.”

Ignoring his apology, Spencer cocked his head, his face a neutral mask. “You had a date with him.”

He shrugged. “It was drinks. Nothing more.”

Spencer laughed without humor. “In other words, a date. That’s what those are called, Wolfie, in case you didn’t know. Two people sitting together and finding out if they’re compatible.”

“How would you know? I thought you skipped that part and went straight to the bedroom.”

That nasty remark hit home, and he saw Spencer flinch. God, why was he being so unnecessarily cruel? He should be thanking Spencer, but that would make him beholden to the man. He didn’t want to owe Spencer anything, because he feared the price he might have to pay would be too great.

“Sometimes, yes. If the moment is right. But I don’t pretend to be someone I’m not. And I also don’t put other people down for who they are.”

Ashamed, Wolf dipped his head. “You’re right. That was rude and uncalled for. Especially when you helped me. I just don’t understand why he thought what he was doing was okay.”

“Come on, Wolfie.” Spencer might’ve only taken a step closer, but Wolf found it hard to breathe, as though all the available air in the room had vanished. “The way he looked at you, everyone could see it.”

Wolf lost his breath at the intensity of Spencer’s gaze. He recognized that fire. It burned inside him as well.
