Prologue

Freshman year

Holy shit. Who the hell is that?

Wolf tried to remain casual, but his gaze kept returning to the blue-eyed guy with blond hair curling around his neck, circling the room in tight white shorts, a bright-green shirt, and battered black-and-white checkered Vans. Wolf’s heart pounded as the guy looked for a place to sit. He couldn’t help glancing at his nicely rounded ass.

What the hell was going on? This had never happened to him before. Why was he getting so worked up over this guy?

Embarrassed, he put his backpack on his lap to hide his erection. Good thing too, as the blond sat next to him. Wolf’s mouth dried, and he prayed the guy wouldn’t say anything.

“Hi. I’m Spencer. This is the LGBT student orientation, right? Oh my God, I’ve been so lost all day, this is the first time I’m sitting down.”

“Oh, uh. Yeah. I’m Wolf.”

Spencer’s eyes widened. “Wolf? Like the animal? No other name?”

He shook his head. “Just Wolf.”

“Cool. What dorm are you in? I’m in Tyler. They said that’s the most gay-friendly, and I’m all about getting friendly.” He winked. “Know what I mean?”

“Um. I’m in Tyler too. The suite on the fourth floor?”

“Oh, my God. That’s my room too. Awesome. Maybe we can hang out together.”

“Maybe. I-I’m pre-law, so I’ll be studying a lot.” How the fuck would he be able to concentrate with this beautiful guy in his face?

Spencer winked. “Gotta come up for air sometime.”

“I guess.” He’d never seen lips that looked so soft or a smile so bright.

Jesus. He needed to stop obsessing.

“Are these seats taken?”

He whipped around to see two nervous-looking guys standing by the chairs. “Uh, no.”

Spencer leaned forward and waved. “Hi. I’m Spencer, and this is Wolf. No one’s sitting there. Join us.”

“Wolf?” the guy with gray eyes asked. Dark hair curled over his brow, and he was skinny and pale, wearing faded worn jeans and a plain white T-shirt.

“Yeah. That’s it. Just call me Wolf.”

“Well, sure, okay. I’m Chester—Chess for short.”

“And I’m Elliot. Are you sure? We don’t want to take anyone else’s seats.” The guy had a sweet, friendly smile but seemed a bit anxious.

“No. I’ve been here for ten minutes. No one’s sitting there.”

“Are you guys in Tyler like us?”

“Yeah, we’re in the suite on four. We met when we dropped off our bags.”

“Oh, my God. That’s us. We’re all roomies. Where are you from?” In less than five minutes, Spencer had them laughing with stories of his drive up from Long Island with two girls from the nursing program.

“They got a flat tire and assumed I could change it.” He blinked those big blue eyes, and Wolf’s insides tumbled with nerves and something else completely foreign to him. “I said, do Ilooklike I know how to do something like that? And I sure wasn’t going to get these clothes dirty.” He swept an imaginary speck of dust off his shirt. “I worked all summer to pay for them.”

Everyone but Wolf laughed. He was too busy trying to focus on something else, anything else, besides Spencer.
