“Glad to hear. I like you too.” A firm hand clamped on his butt, bringing him flush with Brian’s crotch. “A lot. You’re cute.”

“Uh, thanks. What do you do for a living?”

“Pharmaceutical sales.” He named a big company. “I’ve been doing pretty well. Saving up for a condo. I’m tired of paying rent and flushing money down the drain.”

“That makes sense.” Elliot liked that Brian seemed to have a head for business. “You must be away a lot for your job.”

“Lots of travel, but it’s nice to have someone to come home to.” He winked. “Know what I mean?”

“Yeah. I do.”

Elliot smiled up at him and laid his head against Brian’s shoulder again, feeling wanted. At six feet, Elliot wasn’t small, but Brian had a good three inches and over twenty pounds on him. They swayed together, and Elliot’s mind wandered, disregarding all the warnings from his friends. They didn’t understand. Maybe he and Brian would hit it off and they’d start to date. Brian sounded like he was after someone permanent.…

The song ended, and the music picked up. Brian kept a hand on his ass and put his lips to Elliot’s ear. “Wanna get that drink now?”

“Sure.”

Huddled close together, they squeezed into a space by the bar and ordered their beers. He wasn’t wrong this time; his friends were. Brian had come out and said it first—he wanted a home and someone to come home to. A relationship. He’d found the right guy this time. He’d show them all they were wrong.

This time it was for real.
