“Yeah, Jude,” Pryce piped in, “Dex here visited many of the same places Mason did—Tahiti, Bali, Fiji. Maybe they ran into each other.”
Pryce’s words and manner struck Jude as odd, but he couldn’t pinpoint why exactly.
“Maybe. It’s a small world when you work for the super wealthy. Not that I’d know. And now if you’ll excuse me, I have to get back to work. I’ll let Pryce know if I come up with something, Dex.”
“Thank you.”
Jude watched the two men walk away, their heads together. There was something he was missing about their conversation. He’d have to mention it to Mason. Maybe they did know each other.
His phone rang. It was one of their clients, and as Jude listened to his complaints, he forgot about Dex altogether.
Chapter Twenty
A week later, in the bathroom at work, Mason examined a new spot on his neck.Damn.Not that he minded any mark Jude left, the man had proved to be an insatiable lover. Mason rolled his neck, stretching the kinks from his sore body. There wasn’t one patch of skin Jude had left untouched and unloved, and Mason reveled in it.
“New boyfriend?” Pryce came up behind him with a smile.
Quickly covering the mark, Mason washed his hands. “Yeah. I guess you could say so.”
“I thought something was up.”
“Up?” Nervous now, Mason stalled for time by washing his hands again and fluffing his hair.
“Come on.” Eyes twinkling, Pryce elbowed his side. “From the looks of that love bite, whoever it is, he’s really into you.”
He and Pryce had been getting along so well, and even more so since they’d secured the Mojo account, that Mason—although he’d never reveal Jude as his lover—felt comfortable discussing his personal life. To an extent.
“Well, yeah. We’ve only been together for about a month or so, but it’s intense on both sides. You know how it is when it’s early on. You can’t wait to get home and lock yourselves away from the world.”
And for the past week, he and Jude had been doing just that. They’d fallen into a routine where Mason would leave work half an hour before Jude, go to his apartment to shower and change, get his clothes for the next day, then meet Jude at his apartment. They’d walk the dog, pick up something for Edith to eat, spend some time with her, and return to Jude’s place, where they’d make their dinner and talk about upcoming campaigns. The weekend had been a quiet time, making love in the late morning, walking around the neighborhood, exploring art galleries and trying new restaurants. Jude had added him to the building list of people the doorman needn’t announce and had given him access to the gym.
It was a life he’d once scorned as boring and one-dimensional, but now that he had someone to share it with, someone to bring him to dizzying heights of passion with intense, erotic lovemaking that left him limp and incapable of movement. Mason had never been more fulfilled.
More alive.
More in love.
But he wasn’t saying that out loud to anyone. Not yet.
Pryce remained curious. “Not sure I’ve ever felt that way about anyone, but you seem happy. Where’d you meet him?”
“Oh, you know. How we all do it now. Online.” Time to leave before Pryce began to pry deeper.
Pryce’s fair brows shot up. “What site? I should try it.”
Thinking fast, Mason searched his mind for the last dating site he’d seen in an ad. “Big Apple Meetup.”
“I’ll look it up, but I’m kind of surprised you date online.” His appreciative gaze traveled up and down Mason. “You don’t look like you have trouble meeting people.”
Pryce might be a good-looking man who oozed confidence, but he did nothing for Mason. He was too caught up in burning dark eyes as Jude moved over him, and watching Jude fall apart as he shuddered to his climax. Mason ached only for Jude’s kisses that started out warm and sweet, then slowly intensified, their mouths locking together, lips hard and demanding, their tongues playing an intricate dance.
Uncomfortable with Pryce’s cobra-like scrutiny, Mason stepped away from the sink. “It’s not easy, especially with how hard we all work. By the time I get home, I’m too exhausted to do much besides eat and go to bed.”
“Mmm, yeah. Bet it’s nice to have someone to do that with.” Pryce dogged his heels as Mason walked to his office but waited at the entrance. “I’ve tried but never met anyone worth seeing more than once or twice. What’s your secret?”
Mason breathed a sigh of relief that Pryce remained outside. “I dunno. I guess I’m just being myself.”
“Yeah, I can see how that works for you.” Again, that half smile and intense, probing gaze from Pryce. “How about we go over the Never Too Sweet campaign? We have that call with their execs later.”
