When their hands touched, Rico felt a piece of paper slide into his palm but forced himself not to look until he was halfway down the Jetway. It was the guy’s name, phone number, and email.Cody.Rico chuckled and crumpled it up, then tossed it into the first trash can he passed. He walked out into the airport and found his way to the outside, where the air blew warm and smelled totally different than New York. He checked his phone to see if Adam had texted him back.

“Rico.” A pickup truck pulled up, and he spotted Adam’s familiar red head. “Hop in.”

He pulled open the door and slid onto the wide leather seat. Country music played in the background, and for some inexplicable reason, that made him smile.

“Hi.”

Adam waited until he put on his seat belt before driving away but only gave him a quick, tight-lipped grin. Surprised a bit that Adam didn’t kiss him or even say hi, Rico remained quiet, wondering, now that he’d come all this way without stopping to think, if he’d made a huge mistake.

They made it out of the sprawl of the airport and onto the highway, where they traveled with only the sound of the radio. The miles fell away until Adam exited the interstate and drove a distance enveloped in darkness. He turned onto a dirt road and cut the engine, leaving them in complete silence except for the sound of their breathing.

Adam took off his seat belt and slid an arm around Rico’s shoulder, pressing their foreheads together. “I—I can’t believe you’re really here. Thanks for coming.”

That was what he’d waited for. Rico undid his seat belt and twisted on the bench seat so as to fully face Adam. “You sounded like you needed someone to talk to. That’s what friends do, right?”

“Yeah.” Adam’s breath hit his cheek, hot and smelling sweet like peppermint. “But I’m not feeling so friendly right now.”

Rico’s pulse quickened, and he waited, the air vibrating between them. “No?”

Rough hands cupped his face, and Adam brushed their lips together. “I want you.”

Excitement curled around his spine at the blatant lust in Adam’s eyes, and Rico pressed a kiss to the corner of Adam’s mouth, the scent of him as familiar now as his own. “Yeah? So what’re you gonna do about it?”

A wicked smile tilted Adam’s lips, firing Rico’s blood hotter, but he had little time to react. Adam slipped a hand past the elastic waistband of Rico’s pants to grasp his semi-hard dick, which stiffened to an aching fullness.

“Oh, fuck.”

“Later.” Adam breathed heavily, his hand moving in rough, hard pulls the way Rico didn’t even know he craved until Adam touched him. Sighs of pleasure escaped him, and he fell back on the headrest, Adam whispering in his ear, “I’m gonna fuck you so hard later, a piece of me’s gonna be with you forever.”

Normally the guys he fucked didn’t talk much; they had little to say to each other before or after. But being with Adam wasn’t like being with anyone else. He overwhelmed Rico with the strength and warmth of his fingers, his sweet kisses and searching tongue. Adam knew the precise moment to pick up the slick and run it over his cock, up and down, faster and faster until Rico could barely remember to breathe.

Nothing felt as good as Adam’s wet, warm tongue gliding down his neck, his teeth nipping gently at the tender skin, then sucking hard as his hand remained busy on Rico’s dick. A trembling began deep inside and Rico shuddered, hands gripping Adam’s shoulders as he choked back a cry and came, spilling hot and sticky into Adam’s palm. The air thickened, and sweat ran down his back; in a daze, he heard Adam’s soft chuckle and watched him withdraw his hand, then fumble in the glove compartment for some napkins while Rico lay boneless and sated in the seat.

“Welcome to Texas.”

Chapter Eight

Until Rico hadactually texted him to say he’d landed, Adam hadn’t believed he would come. The words inviting him had escaped his lips before he knew he’d said them, and Adam figured Rico would laugh and change the conversation or suggest some dirty phone sex to get them both off.

So when he pulled up in the truck and saw Rico standing at the curb, looking so fucking hot, dark eyes heavy with sleep and a sexy scruff dusting his jaw, Adam lost what little self-control he managed to muster around the man. He congratulated himself on holding it together until they’d reached the long drive to his parents’ home, but the thought of going inside to make introductions and small talk without first touching Rico proved impossible. And Rico had put up little resistance and even now looked blissed-out, a dreamy half smile resting on his lips.

“You good?”

Rico cracked an eye open and flashed a grin. “You tell me. Damn. I haven’t made out in a car in a while.” He stretched, and Adam couldn’t help but admire the strength of his shoulders and the thick cords of his neck straining. He wanted to lick Rico up and down.

Jesus Christ, what the hell had gotten into him? Yeah, the man was sex on legs, but Adam could normally restrain himself. No other man had affected him this way in years, if ever. The more time he spent with Rico, the more he wanted, but Adam knew enough not to get too close. They’d both get burned.

“Well,” he said forcing himself to speak light and easy, “I wanted you to know you were appreciated.”

“If I didn’t already, I do now.”

Once again they buckled themselves into their seats, and Adam started the engine. The drive to the house took only a few minutes, and Adam could see Rico searching out the window to see the landscape.

“You won’t catch a glimpse of anything until morning. We have about thirty acres, a few dairy cows, and some horses. Daddy’s retired now, but he and Mama supplement their income with the vegetables they grow and sell at the local markets: kale, beets, brussels sprouts, cabbage. Stuff like that.” He pulled up the gravel path to the garage and cut the engine.

“Cool. I love seeing the food locally sourced. It’s hard in New York in the winter to get fresh vegetables from a summer crop; we usually stick to only winter veggies.” Rico put his hand on the door. “Are we going inside?”

Nervous all of a sudden, Adam ran a hand through his hair. Now that Rico was here, it seemed like Adam didn’t know what to say.
