“Fuck.” I spun and started running.

Rowan and Sequan caught up with me as I headed straight towards the fighting. “Why fuck?” Sequan panted next to us.

Rowan looked over at the guard. “Because Silas is a three hundred-year-old Alpha that spent most of that being the man that trained the entire Royal Guard. He should be one of the last of us to be hurt in any attack, mainly because he is just that good. Out of everyone here, he has survived wars, attacks, and single-handedly trained Lycans to battle.”

Sequan nodded. “Yeah…I know all of that.”

“Then why did Rowan and Silas get hurt?” I panted as I ran. “Out of everyone here. All the strongest men are getting hurt.”

Sequan nodded. “It makes sense because they had the most attacking them.”

“I was poisoned.” Rowan pointed out the obvious.

Sequan stumbled. “So you are saying that someone targeted you and Silas, and they poisoned you both?”

I looked at him, and I felt my stomach clench. “Not just them.”

Rowan nodded. “Anyone strong enough to be a threat. The only one who was able to get away was Amy.”

Sequan looked at me, the question in his eyes, and I puffed out my cheeks. “I was with the goddesses, and then they dropped me on the far side of the clearing in the trees.” I focused back on the fight. “Probably so that I wouldn’t get poisoned like the others.”

We reached the back before anything else could be said, and I felt the ripple as I passed through a spell. All three of us tumbled head over tail when the mind-link flared to life again.

Where is Amy?Wendy screamed down the mind-link, and my stomach clenched. She sounded so panicked.

Toya called back an answer. She said she was heading this way. She must have gotten sidetracked. She’s coming.

Ladybug, are you okay? Uncle Ronnie called out, and I heard something in his voice that confirmed my worst fears.

“They are all poisoned.” I looked at the two men at my side.

“You can’t know that for sure.” Sequan shook his head, hope in his voice.

“She heard it in Beta Ronnie’s voice. There was a slight slur that isn’t normally there.” Rowan looked at me, and I nodded.

“Let’s go.” Sequan took a step but Rowan’s voice rang out.

“Wait.” Rowan searched the fighting wolves in front of us. “There are less moons in this cluster.” His voice was worried. “We need a plan.”

She’s not hurt, is she?Tina’s voice wobbled.

No.My mothers voice was certain.I would know if she was hurt or worse.

Help me! Someone screamed, someone I didn’t know, but she sounded terrified.

“We can’t stand here anymore. We have to go in.” I shook myself and forced my claws out.

Oh, Goddess, are we going to die?It was Abby’s tiny voice that had me moving. I couldn’t wait anymore, not to plan or worry. I just had to make it to the pups I had claimed. My pup was with Abby, and all the others, inside the safe room in the pack house.

“I’m not waiting. I’m sorry, but I won’t let them get to my pup.” I dove for the first wolf, and I ripped it apart. The worry of Carly in the pack house, waiting for yet another attack, while watching the people she had come to love fighting for their lives. The parallels to Carl’s death made me want to vomit. I knew I had to focus on the fight, but I needed to do one thing first.Carly, baby?I shouted down the mind-link, and for a moment it quieted down.

Momma Amy?Her voice was thick with tears, but I heard the hope.

Baby girl, are you okay?Rowan’s voice called after mine. I think he realized my train of thought when I called to her. He was there that night and could see what it did to her.

Daddy Ro.Her voice hitched. You are both okay?

Of course, baby.I sent small pulses of calming aura to her.We wouldn’t leave you. I have to finish this out here, but I wanted to check in because I haven’t been able to hear anyone.I hoped everyone listening would understand what I was saying.Stay safe, and when we are done here, Daddy Ro and I will come and get you, okay?
