When Sin returns, she’s got Harley in tow. She’s pretty late considering she missed my entire baby shower. As much as I want to be upset with her, I know that she wouldn’t want to miss this. I wish she would have at least let me know she wasn’t going to make it on time.

“Darcy, I am so sorry.” She sucks in a breath, eyes already overflowing with tears. “It was Benji, I… I… I’m done but he didn’t make it easy for me to get out of there.”

“Oh Harley, it’s okay. We missed you though.” I inspect her, looking for signs of mistreatment. “Are you okay? Did he hurt you?”

Fear flashes across her face but she shakes her head left to right quickly.

Wake Up Call

Tatum || 32 weeks pregnant, January

“Alright, so the little dude is measuring a bit bigger than we’d expect at this point. So he could come in two weeks, he could come in six or he could make us wait a little longer.” Dr. Freyer tells us from her place beside the bed.

“So, what you are saying is we need to be prepared for his arrival because it could be anytime now?” I ask nervously, clenching and unclenching my fists that are concealed in my pockets.

“That is correct. You all will be parents soon!” Dr. Freyer claps excitedly.

“I, for one, am ready to give this little guy his eviction notice.” Darcy chuckles, rubbing her stomach affectionately.

“You’ll have an appointment at thirty-six weeks, and if you make it past that, then you’ll have an appointment weekly. If we get to forty weeks and he still hasn’t made his appearance, then we will start to talk about induction,” says Dr. Freyer in closing.

“Sounds good, let’s hope he makes the decision to move out on his terms.” I smile at her, helping Darcy off the vinyl table and walking with her to the front desk, our hands intertwined to schedule our last few appointments.

After our appointment Thursday afternoon,Darcy and I drove over to the beach bungalow for what she’s calling our ‘babymoon’. She explained it as a sort of honeymoon, but before the baby is born.

Laying in a lounge chair on the beach, her skin is bronzed from all the time she’s been spending outside. Her breathing is slow and even. I know she needed this getaway weekend. The tension with her Mom at the baby shower cast a shadow on her mood and the last thing I want six weeks before the birth of our son, is for Darcy to be stressed. So,what better escape is there than her happy place?

Truthfully, the time away has been nice for me, too. Not only to relax and spend some time alone with Darcy, but one of the only places I feel like I can think clearly is here. Sitting with sand between my toes and the sun just hot enough to have me breaking a sweat, before I eventually dive into the waves and cool off.

“Want to go for a swim?” Darcy asks, squinting over at me, her sunkissed cheeks and brown eyes swirling with gold tones. They seem so much more vibrant under the glow of the sun.

“Yes, I was just thinking I was getting too warm.” I stand, dusting the sand from my legs, and go to help her out of the chair, keeping my fingers tangled in hers as we make our way into the water.

“Come here, Mama.” I open my arms to her because she’s standing too far away from me, and I want her close. She happily complies. I kiss her then turn her away from me so that I can hold her against me but as soon as her ass makes contact with my cock, he stands at attention. “Sorry.”

“For what?” She chuckles, wiggling her ass against me knowing exactly what I’m apologizing for.

“Don’t test me, I’ve been thinking about tearing this scrap of fabric you call a bathing suit off of you all day.” I murmur in her ear, quiet enough that the families swimming ten feet away from us can’t hear me, “I wouldn’t hesitate to untie this and bury myself in you right now, if it weren’t for the people around us. That, and the fact that you wouldn’t be able to stay quiet for me.”

“I think I’m ready for my afternoon delight.” She feigns a yawn, leaning her head back against my shoulder and I grip her hip a little tighter, keeping her close to me.

“Haha, very funny. You and I both know that you need an afternoon nap, not an afternoon delight.”

“You’re right.” She chuckles, pulling away from me and swiveling from side to side a bit.

“How are you feeling?”

“My back is killing me,” she groans.

“Come here, lay back. The water should help alleviate some of the pressure, I’ll keep you in place.” She moves towards me, letting her body relax backwards into the water and I place my arms beneath her back, letting the water do a majority of the work.

“This is nice, how did you know it would help?” She squints up at me, the sigh of relief that leaves her mouth is like music to my ears.

“Just been doing my research.”
