Nik

Holy shit, a little man!

Collins

I am doing my very best not to scream in Wake, Bake, Repeat right now.

Maverick

Congrats Tatum, can’t wait for Bella to have someone to play with!

Me

Thanks, guys.

“How are the guys holding up?” D asks from beside me, chuckling at her phone.

“The guys are acting like the guys, but they are happy for us.”

“Same, all the girls have sent me photos of them crying.” She turns her phone to me, showing me her friends' eyes red with tears streaking down their faces.

“You know I never answered your question that night?” My nerves are kicking up, I know she agreed to go on a date but for some reason, I still have the jitters.

“What night?” She puts her phone down, giving me her full attention as her eyes sear into mine.

“That night of the wedding when you asked if I wanted what Kodi and Maverick have. For a long time, I thought I didn’t. That night my answer would have been no, I liked being single and having my personal space. But I know now that I do want what they have. Having you here and us having a baby has changed all of that for me. I know we aren’t together but I’d like to be if you’d give me the chance, for you and our son. For us to raise him together as a family, whole and together. So I was wondering if next Friday night, I could take you on that date.”

“I would like that.” The smile that adorns her face is blinding.

“Me too. Very much.” I raise my hands up to bookend the sides of her face, pulling her in for a kiss. It’s slow and tender, both of our phones continuing to vibrate on the bed but we are lost in this moment together.

Chapter17

Spill the Tea

Darcy || 20 weeks pregnant, October

Iwalk intoThe Brunch Housewith Sin, Harls, and Kodi in tow. This restaurant was practically made for girls like us, those who love breakfast food and mimosas. It’s covered in bright, funky decor, and serves the crispiest hash browns I have ever had in my life. My mouth waters thinking about them.

We managed to pull Harley away from Benji and her studies for the morning, which is good because we can check in with her. She’s been distant since Stu’s party and our phone call. I’ve got my date with Tatum next week and I want to have some time withallof my best friends before then. Sinclair approaches the host stand and then we are guided over to a small booth on the patio overlooking the ocean.

“D, are you ready for your date next week?” Kodi asks as we get settled into our seats and begin looking over the menu.

“I am.” I pause, already feeling my throat tighten, unwilling to admit I’m afraid of getting heartbroken.

“But?” Sin inserts for me.

“But I’m terrified that I’m going to get hurt. You guys know Tate doesn’t do relationships and that he never wanted kids. Is he just asking me out and being all caring and kind to be nice? What about me is so special that all of that changed?” Tears begin welling in my eyes as our waitress approaches. Sin orders champagne for the three of them—along with assorted juices and water for everyone. Harley pipes up ordering a raspberry, white chocolate iced coffee before the waitress gives us our space again.

“You know, someone wise once told me that whoever I choose to give my time to was lucky?” Kodi asks, placing a hand over mine on the table.

“And look where that got her.” Harley chimes in.

“Tatum knows that we will castrate him if he hurts you or that precious little boy in there.” Sin says as she gestures towards my stomach.
