“Sure.” She dragged out the word, laughing at me. “Look, I’ve got her tonight,” she added, angling her head back toward the bedroom where Chelsea lay snoring away her drunken stupor.
“No, it’s okay,” I protested. “I should—”
She cut me off, saying, “Stop. I’m not going to ask you your plans, and even if I did, I surewouldn’t judge you. Let’s just call it payback for you keeping your mouth shut.” As the words fell from her mouth, her hands grazed her flat stomach, signaling exactly what her ambiguous words hadn’t said.
“You sure?” I asked, needing to be reassured I wasn’t doing the wrong thing.
“Go. Now. Before I change my mind.” She shooed me away like an old lady would push a stray cat from her front porch. There was something so comical about it all, something so similar to Chelsea about it, a bubble of laughter formed in my chest.
If Chelsea knew why I was leaving, she’d want all the horny details. With that thought in mind, I walked back out to the limo that was waiting to take me home.
“All set, sir,” the driving asked, holding the door open for me.
As I walked past him, I nodded. After wewere both settled in the limo, I lowered the glass partition to let him know there was a slight change in my drop off location. He eyed me suspiciously when I gave him the address for the strip club, but ultimately kept his mouth shut when I slipped him an extra hundred dollars.
Like a kid sitting in the back seat on a car ride to the toy store, I couldn’t help but smile the entire way back tothe club. Until I looked down at my watch and saw that I was already ten minutes late. Knots tangled in my stomach at the thought of missing out on this chance.
Each second that ticked by as we drove felt like an eternity. Barely able to sit still, I wondered if luck would be on my side.
I wondered if Chase would actually be waiting there for me.
I wondered if he was as excited as I was.
I wondered if I’d be able to last longer than five seconds.
With the neon lights of the strip club flickering in the distance, I knew only a few minutes stood between me and the answers to those questions.
