Thorn walks down the stairs first while explaining it’s the gentlemanly thing to do because then if I slip and fall I fall on him and not on the stairs.

“Whoever gets you, Thorn, is going to get themselves one heck of a man,” I splutter as I step away from the stairs. Of course, thathas Thorn blushing slightly, and I kiss his cheek as I shout for Noah to get me back to the clubhouse.

Supper's done, and it’s a quick one as I’ve been too busy to do much. I threw in chili when we arrived this morning, and I know the brothers like it, so I asked Marcia to do a few sides to go with it while I was speaking with Thorn. I got the usual thank you’s from the brothers, so I am not worried about them not enjoying a quickly thrown together meal. I’ve got a huge chunk of lamb for tomorrow, and I’m going to plaster the top of it with garlic, honey and rosemary. If they don’t like that they can go hungry because I love it and have not had it in forever.

Bri is ignoring Saddle still, and won’t even sit next to him. If it weren’t for the fact that he looks like death, I’d laugh at the situation. Bri is making him pay for allowing another woman to touch him, and Marcia and I are standing firm with her because this is a lesson all of them need to learn, if or when they get an old lady.

Clearing the kitchen ready for leaving, I sigh. Every weekend all this cooking and cleaning is tiring me out. But I need to feed them easier so it doesn’t take much doing. Maybe more stews that I can put in the large pan and just let simmer while I do other things. I don’t know, but I want to clean Breaker's room because these club girls don’t know how to clean properly. I’ve seen under the bed, and it hasn’t seen the light of day for months. I’m going to get Breaker to pull it away from where it’s sitting so I can clean under it. I can imagine bugs, spiders and any other creepy crawlies living under there, and I’m not laying in that bed or even having sex while it’s filthy and my imagination runs riot.

Fury walks into the kitchen as I’m standing with my back against the sink, daydreaming if I’m being honest. I look at him as he comes to a stop in front of me.

“Will you speak to Jamie while she’s on vacation?” Fury asks, and I don’t feel sorry for him at all. He’s done this to them both after all.

“No.”

Fury frowns but continues. “When she comes back will you ask her to speak to me?”

“No.”

“Molly, I can’t make things right if she won’t speak to me…”

“Can you go back in time and not sleep with the club girls? Why you call them girls, I don’t know because they are grown-ass women. You didn’t consider what you were doing to Jamie when you did that, even though you had been having a relationship of a kind with her. I’m not getting involved, and honestly, Fury, I can’t see her getting over this, not in this century.” I don’t wait for a reply. I turn my back and clean the sink, although I’ve only just done it.

I hear Fury walking out of the kitchen, and I know I was harsh, but he didn’t do right by Jamie, and I saw the devastation on her face. I’m sure she loves the man, but could I live with Breaker sleeping with other women? No, of course not. I would do exactly as Jamie is doing. I would walk away.

CHAPTER 34

*~* Breaker *~*

It’s Tuesday already, and I can’t wait for Saturday and the wedding. I’m more excited about it than I ever thought I would be at the thought of getting hitched.

I’m at the clubhouse early this morning as I received a text from Cannon calling all officers in for a church meeting. It’s not unusual for Whack to call officers in and discuss the day-to-day goings on at the club.

Taking my seat in church, I look around and am surprised to see Paxton sitting here. Yeah, he’s a brother, but he’s not an officer. Maybe this is about Para and the Cobras?

Cannon walks in and takes a seat, closely followed by Whack. It takes only a moment for Whack to speak. “Paxton has news regarding Para and what the fucker is up to, as you all wereaware we were watching him, and I thought it best you all be here for Paxton’s report.”

Paxton gives a small clearing of his throat, which I have to say I smirk at, but then he turns serious, gaining everyone’s attention.

“I hunkered down and watched what was happening at the Cobras clubhouse, and I was impressed because they hauled every piece of furniture out of that building and they all, and that includes Para scrubbed them clean. The inside was cleaned and then decorated before all the furniture was hauled back inside,” Paxton smirks. “They’ve cleaned up the compound, and I honestly think he’s attempting to clean up the place where they all live, to gain some pride for the brothers. But I took one for the team with one of the turn-outs. She had a nice gossiping mouth, so I found out the gun running had stopped and they’ve purchased a mechanic’s shop and have other businesses lined up.”

“Looks like our friend Para is heading in the right direction. We’ll never be allies as such, but we can stay away from being enemies if he stays on the course he is on. What news, if any, on this senator’s son?” Whack asks.

Bull taps the keyboard on the laptop he’d brought into church. “It’s Senator Haroldson, and I reckon the fucker is in on this with the son, Stephan. All the leads take me to him and his son. They take as many girls as they can from an area and then move on.”

“I want you to watch him closely, Bull, and any sign he’s heading our way we create a fuckin’ wall of resistance. Cannon talk to your friend in the police department, give him the heads up so if anything goes down he’s pre-warned,” Whack rubs his chin as he’s frowning.

Pens speaks gaining everyone’s attention. “I know someone who lives near the boundary of our territory. I can ask him to watch for any movement, but I would have to tell him why.”

Whack gives all his attention to Pens and asks, “Is he reliable in keeping his mouth shut?”

“Yeah, he is. I wouldn’t put it to him if I thought he couldn’t keep quiet, Pres.” Pens looks a little offended by Whack's question.

“Okay, then speak to him, but keep me up on anything he sees or hears.”

“Will do, Pres.” Pens makes a note on the notepad in front of him, and I grin because he is a stickler for his notepad. It’s one of the reasons he’s such an excellent secretary, he keeps meticulous notes on everything. The notes he has taken here will be written in the book he keeps on Church meetings. It’s locked in the underfloor safe, which we put deep enough that we have the wooden flooring covering it. It’s done in such a way that we can pull it up easily, yet it isn’t noticeable to anyone else. The last thing we would want is the book getting into the hands of the cops.

“Everyone be ready for anything that may occur at a moment’s notice. I have a feeling in my gut something is coming,” Whack leans back in his seat wearing a deep frown.
