“What the hell…!” Molly mumbles to herself, which sets me off laughing once more. Right before I scoop her off that easy chair, and carry her over my shoulder right to our bedroom.

CHAPTER 27

*~* Molly *~*

It has been a long and busy week. Trudy has settled into the practice as though she’s always been there, and Tim has a lot of the minor jobs fixed inside too. He is so lovely, and I like him a lot. He’s bright and cheerful, sings quietly as he works and is just an all-round pleasant person.

Jamie had disappeared for the last two days. I’ve not seen her around at all and when I asked Tom he complained his patient appointments were cutting into his small lunch hour. I had to call Jamie, but she said something had come up and she’d be back on Monday. I had to cancel her patient appointments or get a stand-in to cover for her. I was able to get a stand-in thanks to Tom, and Simon Carvel is covering until Jamie reappears.

Walking into the clubhouse with Breaker, I see Bri and Marcia sitting alone on one side of the rec room. I give Breaker a smallsmile and rush over to them, taking a seat. “Are you two okay?” I quickly ask because I’ve not heard from them since ourshedexperience.

“Well, I’m okay, but honestly, Molly, I think that kind of punishment may be a little too much for me.” Bri wipes her face with the palms of her hands.

I have to give her a sharp look because she sounds hoarse, and flicking my eyes to Marcia she is smirking. “I’m good. I can manage, but poor Bri needs some good calming cough drops.”

Turning my head slowly, I pay attention to Bri, and she blushes. Yeah, my tough cookie friend who you know, usually likes her punishment is blushing, and bright red blushing, not just pinking a little.

I flick my eyes again to Marcia, and sheoucheswhen she moves in her seat. “No, no, no, do not tell me what has happened to you both. I have to come to the clubhouse every weekend and do lunch and supper for six freaking months, and you two will be over it in about three days!”

Marcia laughs, Bri giggles, but it’s like sandpaper scratches something tough.

I change the subject because enough of this talk. “Breaker wants to run off to Vegas and get married by Elvis,” I spout and cross my eyes while sticking my tongue out.

Marcia and Bri stare at me for a moment like I’ve lost my mind, then both of them burst into laughter. I take pleasure in the fact that Bri is struggling with her throat and Marcia is struggling to sit still.

“I’m not getting married by freaking Elvis. Breaker can kiss my ass, that is just not happening. I don’t mind City Hall, but no, not by Elvis. Why anyone would do that is beyond my imagination.”

“No, I wouldn’t want to get married by Elvis either. But you know Whack can marry you, don’t you?” Marcia asks, and I shake my head that no I didn’t. “You could get married here at the clubhouse, we can fancy up the compound or do it in here. Whack could marry you, and then you could go on a honeymoon somewhere, just to get busy for a while with no-one calling Breaker away just at the wrong moment.”

“That happens a lot I can tell you.” Bri moans, “Times that Saddle has just got interesting, you know what I mean, and puff the damn phone rings.” Shaking her head in disgust.

“Jeez, that’s not good,” I mumble. “I'll think about it and let you know.” I jump to my feet and head to the kitchen where I’m going to start supper. Feeding this lot means I have to get on with it or suffer later when there is nothing to feed them.

Ribs are in the oven, and I’ve squeezed in potatoes so they can cook on the racks. I made a chili, and that is simmering slowly and smells amazing even though I’m patting my own back to say that. I’m going to serve cornbread, shredded cheese, onions and sour cream, along with rice and the baked potatoes. With the ribs I have baked beans, macaroni and cheese, and coleslaw. If that’s not enough they can all go hungry.

“Molly, Whack needs to speak to you in the office,” Griller says as he pops his head into the kitchen.

“Okay, I’ll be there in a minute,” I reply and dry my hands after placing the last rinsed dish in the dishwasher. I make my way quickly to Whack’s office and tap on the door, which is slightly ajar.

“Come in,” Whack says, and when I step inside and give him a smile, he remains blank-faced. “Close the door, Molly, and take a seat.”

I close the door and turn to the seat, but give Cannon and Saddle a questioning look. They both remain still, not giving me any idea of what is going on.

“Did Breaker tell you the decision regarding Carrie-Anne?” Whack asks me, and I can see he’s unsure about something.

“Yes, he said that she was going to the Broken Cobras and that they would leave me alone once they have her.”

“Okay, well I wanted to give you the chance to speak to her if you want to before she is collected. They are coming for her in about an hour. I’ve had a message from Para, so it’s confirmed she’ll go today, and soon.” Whack looks at Cannon who shrugs. “Molly, it’s unlikely your stepsister is going to survive this. I’m sure she’ll be killed for what she did.”

“Whack, it’s none of my business anymore. I helped her for years to get a decent life, and all she did was bring trouble to my door. I’ve given her my savings more than twice, and I can’t get ahead because she keeps dragging me down.” I rub my hands down my thighs because although I can’t stand her any longer, I never wanted to see her dead. “You know we all have to do the best we can, but she’s never done that. Partying and sleeping around has been her life since she hit seventeen. Now she has to pay for the things she did, or didn’t do. She could have had a good life, but she was never a nice person, and she’s never going to be a nice person. I washed my hands of her, and if she dies, then she dies.”

Saddle leans over and squeezes my hand. “Molly, you can’t make people be better if they are sour to the core. We have met a few like Carrie-Anne, and you are perfectly right in saying she’llnever get better. That’s because she doesn’t want to work hard and earn what she has, but that’s the way of the world.”

I nod and look up at Whack again. “I’ve nothing to say to her, and I don’t really want to see her. She can pay the price for stealing from that MC. As long as they leave me alone I’m good with it.”

“Okay, Molly. I’m looking forward to supper,” Whack gives me a huge grin, and I shake my head and roll my eyes at him. Men, half the time they think with their stomachs and the other half with their dicks.

Cannon laughs, and I turn to look at him surprised. “You said that out loud, Molly. You know you could be right, too.”
