He too was shirtless, jeans hanging slightly off his waist as he ate a bowl of cereal. His eyes ventured to the corner, eyebrow rising when he noticed the scuffle at the curb. It took him all of two seconds to figure out what was going on. He didn’t know if Yanna had come by her mother’s house and called Kalil over. Or if both had come together. Either way, he could tell things had gone awry, and since he detested Kas, there was no way he wasn’t going to be petty.

“Fine ass Yanna, I thought that was you I heard out here. Kalil, my nigga, good to see you again.” He stated with a smile way too large for someone who was simply greeting friends.

Kas’ squinted eyes traveled from Destin to Yanna as he thought he was putting two and two together. “The DJ?” He probed quietly.

“Kas—”

“I guess you blocking him from yo phone ain’t mean shit because you could still go see him at the club, right?”

“No, you got it all wrong---”

“How you just go and fuck another nigga?! You was mad… for nothing, and you wanted to hoe so bad you had to do it in a room full of people?”

“No, I didn’t mean for it to happen like that!”

“How the fuck you mean for it to happen then? Huh? How did you mean to crush a nigga heart, Yanna?”

The fury in Kas’ eyes was unlike anything Yanna had ever seen before. She’d witnessed him angry on many occasions, but this was different. This time his anger was accompanied by hurt, and she instantly hated herself for making him feel that way. His pain was visible, and she would’ve done anything to turn back time and never even take her ass to the club that night. She was about to plead her case with Kas but was sidetracked when she realized Destin was approaching them.Oh God.

“Hey man. You don’t gotta be all in her face like that screaming and shit. She a grown ass woman, and if I ain’t mistaken, she single, so she can do what… or who, she wants to do.”

Kas released a sardonic chuckle, turning around to face his brother and cousins. “Y’all hear this nigga?Hey man, you don’t gotta be all in her face.” Kas mocked, making Destin sound like a square. “You Richmond niggas never know y’all fucking place. Aye look, let me tell you something about how I talk tomybitch---” Instead of explaining with words, Kas reared his fist back and rocked Destin with a right hook.

Destin stumbled, catching himself before he hit the ground. He hadn’t anticipated being struck by Kas, and the blow stunned him. He recovered quickly, attempting to counter the punch, but his effort was sidestepped. Kas dodged his hit and offset it with another right jab. The men enthralled themselves in an all out brawl after that. Kas had always been a fighter… growing up in the projects with super light skin and curly hair; he wasalways deemed a pretty boy. For that reason alone, niggas used to try him. He’d always shown them why it was never wise to judge a book by its cover, but Destin was proving to be harder to conquer. Growing up with a brother who was a boxer, he’d been taught how to fight as well. They migrated to the street, assaulting one another, right hook for left hook, upper cut for jab, and neither of them seemed to be tiring out. Two men, one woman. One didn’t even have a dog in the fight. Destin was fighting for the position of rebound nigga and didn’t seem to be aware that the position wasn’t open. Kas fought for the disrespect alone. For the fact that any man other than him had the privilege to feel the heaven between her legs. His feelings were hurt, his heart was crushed, and since he couldn’t put hands on Yanna, he took his frustrations out on Destin. Onyx, Quan and Kalil were on standby in case any of the northsiders who’d come outside to speculate chose to intervene.

Deciding to stop his brother before things got out of hand and he had to jump in, Onyx pulled Kas away. The last thing he needed was to get into a fight and have it posted all over the blogs. He tried to subdue Kas, but his brother was like a wild man. Finally, Kas was able to get Des onto the ground, signaling the end of the fight for him. He delivered one last kick to Destin’s side before finally conceding.

“You can have that nigga now, Jaiyanna.” Kas affirmed as he attempted to walk off.

“Kas, oh my God, it wasn’t even him! He’s just here because his mom lives right here!”

“The fact that it’s so many possibilities tells me all I need to know ‘bout yo hoe ass.”

“Wait, how are you really this mad at me when you---”

Kas abruptly stopped walking causing Yanna to bump into his back. He turned wildly, face inches from hers. “I told you it wasn’t like that! You wanted any excuse to be a fucking slutthough!” Yanna backpaddled, and Kas hawked her down with each step she took.

Not wanting the whole neighborhood to witness Kas shaming Yanna any longer, Onyx grabbed and pulled her away. Holding her at arm’s length, his heart stalled at the look of despondency in her eyes. “Get in yo Jeep and go home. Don’t come out to the houses right now, just go home and chill out. We’ll call you, okay.”

“But he---”

“I got him. Go home.”

“Okay.” Yanna sniffled, giving Kas one last glance before heading to her truck.

“Nigga, bring yo ass. Kalil, follow us.”

Just as the guys were walking off, Destin made his way to his feet. As a parting gift, Kas spun and hit him with an uppercut, sending him sprawling back to the ground.

“Ahahaaa!!” Quan hooted, clapping his hands. He stood in a bodybuilder’s pose, turning to the onlookers. “Who else want some of Deebo, huh?!”

“Bring yo simple ass the fuck on before we have to fight all these niggas!” Onyx scolded. Once his brother and cousins were secured in their vehicles, he climbed in Kas’ driver’s seat and pulled away from the block.

“Aye, go to her house real quick,” Kas requested, checking out his face in the mirror. He had one small cut under his eye, and his temple was bruised on account of him being so light. Other than that, he was unscathed.

“Hell nah. You too mad and yo feelings too hurt to be in her presence right now. I get that you mad, Kas. I really do. But if I ever… ever catch you in her face like that I’mma fuck you up.”

“Alright, Nyx. I’m calm now, just take me around there.”
