“You don’t have the right to question me, Kas.”

“Nah, see…” Kas chuckled and rubbed his forehead, something he did when he was trying to contain his anger.“I think you confused about how this works. When I ask you questions, you fucking answer them. What kind of friend is he?”

“The same kind of friend Yasmine is to you.” Yanna’s smirk grew into a full taunting leer. Her statement was false, but she knew it would get a rise out of Kas because he knew exactly what he did with Yasmine.

Before Kas could respond to Yanna’s remark, his attention was diverted to the cars of Destin’s brother and friends driving away. Destin was last to drive by, and to Yanna’s dismay, he decided to let down his passenger’s window and yell out… “Fine ass Yanna, call me when you get rid of that nigga!” Adding insult to injury, he let his gaze drift to Kas, disrespectfully eyeing him up and down before offering an insolent smirk. Never the one to be outdone, Kas lifted his foot and stomped the side of Destin’s car just as he was pulling off. Destin’s brake lights glowed as he screeched to a halt before putting the car in reverse and zooming back. This prompted Dade, Mari, and Santana to put their cars in reverse as well. Tossing his car in park, Destin hopped out, removing his shirt, and flinging it onto the roof of his car. Once Destin’s brother and friends were out of their cars, also looking like they were preparing for a fight, Kalil and Quan prepared themselves as well. Chains were tucked and watches were removed as the groups of men converged on each other. When Kas pulled up his slightly sagging joggers and balled his hands into fists, Yanna knew shit was about to go bad. The last thing she wanted was for Kas to get himself into trouble. Additionally, she didn’t want to see him or Destin getting hurt. She didn’t like Destin’s brother, Dade, but wholeheartedly believed he was capable of taking Kas, Kalil and Quan all on his own. Before things could escalate further, she jumped between Kas and Destin, pressing her hands to Kas’ chest and pushing him back.

“Can you stop? The shit isn’t even that deep.”

“Nah, shitisthat deep, Yanna. Look at my fucking car!” Destin bellowed.

“Fuck that cheap ass beamer, nigga. Crying over that lil’ ass dent, go scratch some records or some shit and scrounge up the lil’ money it’ll take to fix it.”

“Or, how ‘bout I beat yo ass andtakethe lil’ money it’ll cost to fix it?”

“Yea, that shit sounds good. So come beat my ass and take my shit.” Kas challenged, his demeanor was giving unbothered, but Yanna knew him well enough to know he was anything but.

“Let it go Kasra, because I’m not about to let you fight out here. Please don’t make me call Onyx at this time of night because he gone be pissed with both of us.”

Kas was on go, but he didn’t doubt that Yanna would call Onyx. He wasn’t afraid of anyone but didn’t like to make a habit of pissing his big brother off. If Onyx was awakened and had to get out of his bed to diffuse a brawl, Kas would undoubtedly have another fight on his hands. He didn’t want that, so he conceded and allowed Yanna to push him towards his Trackhawk. Once she was satisfied with the amount of distance she’d put between Kas and Destin, she turned so she could talk to Destin about the dent in his car.

“Take yo’ ass over there to that nigga and watch how I act up out here,” Kas threatened in a low tone. A tone that let Yanna know he was done with her antics for the night. She talked big shit but was smart enough to know when she’d reached her limit with Kas. Stopping in her tracks, she began to slowly backpedal.

“Don’t even sweat that shit, Des. Bring it to the shop tomorrow and I’ll pop that dent out,” Dade informed. He owned a string of Auto Painting shops throughout Richmond and the surrounding areas. Each of his shops had technicians who could easily remove a dent and touch up the BMW’s matte black paint if necessary.

“Yea,Des, that’s gone be yo’ best bet.”

“Kas, stop.”

“Better listen to her,” Dade remarked.

“And if I don’t, then what, nigga?”

Dade released a chuckle, shaking his head as he started backtracking to his car. “Come on, Des, ‘cause I’m itching to lay this lil’ nigga out.”

Before Kas could challenge Dade, their standoff was interrupted by two Richmond City police cars pulling into the lot.

“Must be yo’ lucky night,” Destin replied, walking to his car.

“Shut the fuck up, nigga.” Kas also started inching toward his car while everyone else followed suit.

“Damn!” Nisha yelled with her hands up. “Yanna, you got these fine ass niggas out here ready to box it out over you. Like, damn, I’m available too!”

“Goodbye, Nisha!” Yanna couldn’t help but laugh at her friend’s antics.

“Bring yo hoe ass on, Jaiyanna.”

“I’m taking my hoe ass home. Fuck you.”

Kas stopped in his tracks and turned to face Yanna. The look on his face told her she was all out of chances. “I look like I’m playing with you? Come the fuck on. Quan, Kalil, I’ll get up with y’all tomorrow.”

“You sure?” Quan asked. “I feel like I need to chaperone in case you try to kill that girl or something.”

“He might act like he doesn’t, but Kas has good sense. Don’t let him fool you,” Yanna shot before walking to her jeep. She hopped in and started the engine pulling off behind Kas as he yelled out something to the police before exiting the parking lot.

CHAPTER TEN

Entering Kas’ house with him fresh on her heels, Yanna dropped her purse on the couch and kicked off her sneakers, leaving them in the middle of the floor. As if she were the one with a reason to be mad, she stomped her way up the winding staircase. Once inside Kas’ bedroom, she peeled off her jewelry, placing it on his dresser. Kas leaned against the door frame watching her, trying not to admire her luscious frame. Still acting as if he wasn’t there, Yanna entered his bathroom and turned on the shower.
