Kalil helped her get her things into the airport shuttle van then helped her inside. The airport was fairly empty when they made it inside, so they got through security quickly. They’d checked their bags and boarded the plane with no issue. Yanna and Kalil switched tickets so Yanna could have the window seat. She leaned her shade covered head on the window, and Kalil layered his small blanket over her.
“You good, Yanna?” He questioned genuinely concerned.
“No, I’m not, Kalil, but I will be.”
CHAPTER FIVE
“You’ve reached Jaiyanna, sorry I missed your call. Don’t leave a message, just text me.”
“Bruh, what the fuck?!” Kas screamed, tossing his phone onto his couch.
He’d been calling and texting Yanna non-stop since some random nigga answered her phone. Each time he called, he got her voicemail, and his anger was rising to a dangerous level. Picking his phone back up, he pushed his feet into a pair of slides and stalked his way across the driveway. Placing the code in Onyx and Troi’s door, he pushed it open and slipped into the house. The house was quiet, and it was still early, so he figured everyone was still asleep. Still, he made his way into the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of water from the refrigerator. He headed back into their living room and plopped onto the couch. Moments later, Troi was tipping lazily down the stairs.
“Kas, what are you doing here so early?”
“Where the fuck yo cousin at?”
“What? Boy, I don’t know. It’s early as hell.”
“Turned off her fucking phone so none of my calls or texts would go through. She always on that stupid shit.”
“Shealways on that stupid shit? Let’s not forget what the fuck you did, Kasra. I should slap youandOnyx because now it makes sense why he suggested we stay off our phones. What did you think would happen?”
“To be honest, Troi baby, I don’t give a fuck about none of that shit. You know I called her, and a nigga answered her phone. An American nigga, not one of them island dudes.”
“Well… she might’ve, um, I mean maybe she sat her phone down and somebody accidentally answered it or something.”
“I look dumb to you, Troi baby? I can’t believe you just said that dumb ass shit to me. The nigga answered her phone, and they was laughing and joking together.”
“I’m telling you, Kas, you’re reading too much into it. I’m sure it was just a random thing.”
Kas pressed both of his hands on the coffee table. “Troi baby, and I say this respectfully, but why the fuck would I listen to you?”
“Whywouldn’tyou listen to me? You calling me a liar?”
“Nah, I’m not calling you a liar, but I am saying you don’t know what the fuck you talkin’ ‘bout.”
“You need to calm down. She’s probably just on the plane on her way home.”
“You keep giving these bogus ass excuses for her, Troi, and that shit lowkey pissing me off. You know exactly what her hoe ass had going on, gone make me grab her by that half inch of hair she got.”
“Nigga, I know fucking well you ain’t in my house this type of morning making all this fucking noise.” They heard Onyx’s voice as he descended the stairs, shirtless, in only a pair of baller shorts. Kian was tucked snugly in his arms.
“I’m really not in the mood right now, Nyx.”
“I look like I care what you in the mood for?Notbe in the mood for it at yo own house. Why you here harassing my girl?”
“Ain’t nobody harassing her, but you should know, she a bold-faced fucking liar though. At least she gone lie for her slut ass cousin.”
“Kas get out my face with all that. Like your brother wasn’t complicit in your deception, but I’m the liar.”
Onyx wrapped his arm around Troi’s waist and pulled her in for a kiss. “Don’t put me in their shit, baby. All I was trying to do was keep the peace.”
Troi squinted her eyes at Onyx but decided to let his little excuse slide. She knew the situation with his dad, and finding out he had a sister was still eating at him. He hadn’t spoken on the situation since leaving Barbados, but Troi knew it was only a matter of time before his feelings caught up to him.
“Anyway, Troi baby, what you cooking?”
As if none of the conversation had taken place, Troi headed into the kitchen with Onyx and Kas on her trail. “Something quick, eggs, bacon and pancakes.”
