“Do what the hell y’all want. I don’t need to meet with nobody because I don’t have shit to say,” Onyx replied as he grabbed onto Troi’s hand and moved toward the door.

“Onyx, wait a minute.” Layla grabbed Onyx’s arm, causing him to turn abruptly.

“Nah, I’m good.” He stared his mother up and down, shaking his head at her in disgust. “Can’t believe you, mumma. Don’t callme, and when we get home, don’t come by my house. I don’t have shit to say to you.”

Layla gasped at her son’s words, gutted by the look of hatred she’d seen in his eyes. Neither of her sons, especially Onyx, had ever looked at her with anything less than respect and adulation. Tears sprung to her eyes as Onyx practically dragged Troi to the door, pushing it open with force as they disappeared through it.

“I’mma follow him.”

“Kas, wait.”

“Not now, mumma. I gotta make sure my brother good.” Kas gave his father and sister one last look before running out the door so that he could follow Onyx.

The room was quiet as Maya glared disapprovingly at her father. Layla was silent as well, looking as if she was contemplating going after her sons or not. Yanna stood there for a second, feeling out of place as the lingering silence in the room grew uncomfortably loud. It took a few seconds before it dawned on her that this situation had absolutely nothing to do with her. She would talk to Layla later.

“Yea, so, I’m just gonna… give y’all some space,” she uttered quickly before turning and running out of the room.

“Hey, are they going to be okay?” Londyn questioned about Onyx and Kas but also wanted to check on her sister-in-law.

“No, um, I don’t think so.”

“Okay, well you have my number. Text me later and let me know everyone is okay.”

Yanna nodded her head but doubted she would. “Will do.” She fibbed before exiting the venue. Just as she reached outside, she felt her phone vibrating with a text. As she expected, it was Kas.

Kasra: I need you.

Usually, Yanna would’ve ran to be by Kas’ side because she knew he genuinely needed her. They’d had countless conversations about his hurt behind his father’s absence. She knew finally seeing his father and discovering he had a sister in the same night was a lot for him to take in. Still, she just couldn’t do it. Sure, Kas was hurting, but her feelings were hurt too, and she wasn’t willing to put them aside to cater to Kas. Shoving her phone back in her purse, she flagged down a cab that was parked in front of the venue.

“Where to?” The driver questioned in a thick Bajan accent.

“Just take me somewhere that has a bar.”

CHAPTER FOUR

The sound of the bass wafting through the speakers vibrated through Yanna’s body as she took another shot of tequila. She was on shot three… possibly four, and she raised her finger for the bartender to bring her another. Another two after that was highly likely, because she needed anything to take her mind away from the current situation at hand. Her phone vibrated on her lap, and she didn’t even bother looking at it because she knew it was Kas. He could dial her all night long, and she wouldn’t pick up. It was officiallyFuck, Kas. The fact that he’d obviously been hiding her phone from her proved he was the dog ass nigga she’d deemed him to be. Not only that, but he was a coward because he’d involved his cousins and probably Onyx, when he could’ve just been honest with her. Knowing her, she would’ve been pissed, surely would’ve given him the cold shoulder, and of course, curse him out, but she would’ve gotten over it… eventually. The fact that he would go to such great lengths to be untruthful angered her even more than it hurt. Now there she was, on an unfamiliar island, drinking her sorrows away, and the smell of somebody’s son’s cologne was threatening to intoxicate her even more. Turning her head to the right, she gasped audibly at the sight before her.She suddenly had the taste for a Hershey’s bar looking at his smooth skin. Her eyes traveled to the bounty of hair pulled atop his head in a messy bun, and she surmised that he had to be one of the finest men she’d ever seen.

“You good, love?” He asked, smiling, revealing a top row of golds.

Ooh, damn accent.“I am now.” Yanna smiled flirtatiously as her phone rang again in her lap. Rolling her eyes, she finally answered. “What!” She spoke loudly over the music.

“Yanna! Where the fuck you at?”

“Who’s speaking?”

“Come on Yanna, Onyx wants to leave the island, so the jet is going to be picking us up tonight. Let me explain the video to you, just tell me where you at.”

“I’m where I’m at, Kas, that’s all you need to know. Don’t worry about me, worry about that big head ass girl, Yasmine, and your family issues.”

“Where you at, Yanna Boo?”

“I said, don’t worry about it! And after I hang up, I’m finding a new nigga and never speaking to you again.”

“Then I’ll shoot at any new nigga you get until you do.”

Both Yanna and the man sitting next to her burst into laughter at that statement. To Yanna’s surprise, the man leaned into her phone and started talking.

“Say bruh, you gone have to call back another time or some shit. Yarra kind of busy right?—”
