“You look so fucking good,” Kas affirmed, looking down at Yanna. She’d kept her hair in a bob but reverted to her platinum blonde color months prior. Her short white dress fit like second skin, accentuating the extra ten pounds of curves she’d gotten from Junie. Her veil had sleeves, giving her simple dress a high fashion look. “What we doing after this? We need to work on giving Junie a sister.”
“Kasra, hell no. I said not until she’s at least a year old.”
“Yea, if I nut in you tonight, she’ll be one by the time the next one comes.”
“We got too much going on.” She bargained.
Yanna wasn’t exaggerating even a little bit. In addition to their infant daughter, Yanna’s position as label manager placed a lot on her. Most days, she brought her work home with her because she hated being away from Junie too long. Of the ten artists now under WCMG, all of them had singles on the charts thanks to Kas’ producing. Artists outside of WCMG were requesting to work with him in droves, and he was nominatedfor several upcoming awards. Wanting to build several streams of income, Kas purchased a fleet of luxury SUVs and started a car service company. Yanna did most of the administrative work for the company, adding to her strenuous workload.
“Baby girl, can I get a smile, please?” Jaivion requested, and Yanna obliged, flashing a wide beam.
Jaivion had been present for his daughter whenever she needed him, no questions asked. After helping her get set up with a therapist and offering her refuge, the relationship between him and Yanna grew. He’d informed her that even though she’d stopped spending the money he sent her, he never stopped sending it. He simply moved the money into an interest-bearing savings account where it waited until Yanna was ready to use it. He’d given her access, and the money had certainly added up over the years. Aside from starting a college fund and trust for Junie, the money still hadn’t been touched. Yanna couldn’t deny how elated she was to have Jaivion back in her life. She’d spent so many years not allowing Jaivion to atone for his mistakes, and she’d deprived herself of a healthy father/daughter relationship. Junie loved him, and he and Kas got along great as well.
“Girl got your whole damn face, Jaivion,” Janis commented, and no one there could disagree.
Six months ago, Janis wouldn’t have been able to talk to Jaivion, let alone be in his presence. After going to rehab, she also started seeing a therapist who really helped her process and accept what happened between her and her ex-husband. She and Jaivion had a long discussion, in which he let her know he’d forgiven her for breaking his heart. He then asked her to forgive herself, because he always felt her own guilt was the true reason she drank so much. Being sober got Janis out of the decades-long funk she’d been in. When she wasn’t stealing as much time as she could with Junie, she was growing her new Interior designbusiness. She was hanging out with her sister more and had recently gotten back into the dating scene. Nearly dying changed her life, and she vowed to never take another drink for the remainder of her days.
Kas’ relationship with his father was growing daily. Nouri was always at the houses or kicking it at the studio. He was making up for lost time and was grateful to the Most High that his sons had forgiven him… especially his eldest. Kian had quickly gotten attached to his grandfather, so it became second nature for Onyx to have him around. The relationship was progressing slowly but was currently to a point where Onyx invited him over for meals or to hang out.
Gripping Yanna by the waist, Kas planted a kiss on her lips. He’d never felt better than he did in that moment. The love of his life was now his wife; they had a beautiful baby girl together, and if he had any say, they’d be having another one within the next year. It had been a long journey, filled with ups and downs, a lot of back and forth, and a lot of going in circles. Kas was just glad they’d stopped with the 360s and settled on a 180 because neither of them was anything like they used to be. Sure, their personalities were still the same, and they still lacked couth or word filters. However, they’d grown and shed their toxic, childish ways. Outside entities were no longer a factor in their relationship. Zahra continued to shop herself out to labels and ended up signing with none other than Big P of Sunset Records. Like Kas predicted, they’d jazzed up her sound with auto tune and studio tricks, but it wasn’t enough. The first time Zahra performed live, and the public was burdened with her true singing voice, her career went downhill. Unfortunately, her good looks couldn’t save her, and she was dropped from Sunset before she was even able to release a debut album. The last anyone heard, she was dating some drill rapper from New York who already had eleven kids and nine baby mothers.
As far as Destin went, Yanna still saw him around the old neighborhood, and they were cordial with one another. He congratulated her once the baby was born and assured her there were no hard feelings for the fight between him and Kas. Conversely, Kas hadn’t completely matured where Trell was concerned, and after finding out who he was, vowed to get his wreck off if he ever saw him in the city. He didn’t dwell on the old shit, though, as long as he had his Yanna Boo, everything in his world was right. Looking down at her, he flashed his infamous smile.
“I told you every time you smile at me it make me want to suck your dick.”
“Yea?” Kas questioned, widening his smile causing Yanna to laugh. “Can’t be saying shit like that to me, matter fact, are we done here?!” He questioned his family.
“This nigga can’t wait to go home and get started on number two,” Quan commented.
“Yanna, gone and let him so me and you can be in this together,” Troi added while Onyx stood behind her, rubbing her three-month pregnant belly.
“I mean, I wouldn’t mind grandbaby number three,” Layla commented.
“Don’t sound too bad,” Nouri threw in his two cents with his arm tossed over Layla’s shoulder.
“Nouri, why you so close?” Onyx questioned.
“They think they slick, Nyx. I ain’t gone tell you how I seen him sneaking from the house the other night.”
“Kasra!” Layla squealed, causing Onyx to give her an inquisitive glare. “All y’all can mind y’all own damn business. There’s nothing going on with me and Nouri’s ass.”
“Oh shit, she sounding like Yanna… now I know she lying,” Kas stated, causing Layla to wave them off while walking away. That was like the cue for everyone else to disperse as well.
Yanna couldn’t help but laugh loudly, full of content. How she’d gone from swearing Kas wasn’t her man to being his wife and mother of his child was beyond her. She now understood that she didn’t have to run from love. She understood that receiving one of a kind love was anythingbutscary, and she was doing herself a disservice by claiming doom before giving the situation a fair chance. She was no longer interested in denying her love, thinking it made her look weak. She’d express it to anyone who’d listen how in love she was. Yasmine, Zahra, none of those girls mattered anymore. As long as she and Kas had one another, she couldn’t care less about anyone else. All she needed was him, their baby girl, and however many babies he planned on filling her with. She didn’t know exactly what is was Kas did to her, but whatever it was, was purely remarkable, and it was a feeling she never wanted to end.
“Jaiyanna Zaman.”
“Ahh, that sounds so good.”
“Hell yea, it does. Are you happy?”
“I am.”
“So tell me you love me.”
“I love you, Kas.”
“Forever?”
“And a day.”
