Pulling out his phone, he dialed Zahra’s phone and waited for her to answer.
“Hey, meet me in the groom’s dressing room.”
Yanna was showcasing her good knees, bouncing her ass in a squatted position to a Cardi B song. Maya, Troi, Londyn and Shae were hyping her up while the men discussed yet another business collaboration.
“Okay then friend, show ‘em how you made that baby!” Londyn hyped.
“Hell nah, don’t show nobody that shit. Get up.” She heard Kas say out of nowhere as he grabbed ahold of her arm and pulled her into him. “Come with me.” Kas didn’t give her time to agree before he was pulling her off the dance floor and out of the venue.
The early November air was mild and still, usual for an early fall evening in Virginia. The water from the Atlantic Ocean spilling into the York River added a bit of cool, but not enough to make the temperature too frigid. The moonlight shone onto the water, casting a dreamlike glow. Inside the venue, the DJ had switched to slower music, only adding to the ambiance. Kas grabbed onto Yanna’s hand and led her to an area of the beach that was secluded, thanks to a large pier.
“It’s so beautiful out here.”
“Yea, it is.”
“What are we doing out here anyway?”
“I wanted to talk to you. It’s some shit I need to say, something other than what I already said inside.”
“Okay, but before we do that, can you take a picture of me by the water? I haven’t gotten a picture of my own all day.”
“Alright.”
They both pulled off their shoes and placed them near each other before traipsing through the sand to the edge of the water. She pulled up the camera on her phone and handed it to him. He stepped back, and she hiked up her dress before laying down in the sand, posing with her arms stretched above her head, and one leg bent. Her head tilted, giving the camera eyes as the moonlight casted a perfect glow over her frame. Kas snapped several shots of her in that position, serving as her own personal photographer as she changed poses. She ended up laying downagain and arched her back just as the water reached her, washing over her body.
“Ah shit!” She shrieked, laughing uncontrollably. Kas couldn’t contain his laughter either as he stepped forward and extended his hand to help her up. “Now I’m going to have to redo my hair tomorrow.”
“Shouldn’t take you too long.”
“Ha, fucking ha, nigga. Most of this bob is mine.” She bent down and splashed him with water. “Remember, I’m bald by choice. I could have a whole head of hair if I wanted to.”
“Yea? Can you swim too?”
“What that gotta---” Yanna didn’t even get to finish her sentence as Kas lifted her from her feet, tossing her over his shoulder and walking into the water. “Nooo, I can’t swim! Stop playing!” She giggled, thinking that if he put her in the water, she was taking his ass with her.
“You making all that damn noise.”
“Because I don’t want to die. Put me down.”
“Right here?” He moved as if he was going to drop her there in the water.
“Ahh! No, Kas, in the sand.”
Kas laughed heartily as he walked out of the water, taking her all the way back to the shore, picking her phone up out of the sand along the way.
“You lucky this shirt ain’t cost that much.” He stated as he removed the wet shirt.
“And if it had cost that much?”
“Yo ass was gone learn how to swim or die trying,” he joked.
“If I died trying, I would’ve haunted the fuck out your ass.” Yanna retorted, bumping his shoulder. “Anyway, what did you want to talk about?”
“I read your letter.”
“Already?”
“Yea, Nouri told me to read it then follow my heart.”
