Chapter Fifteen

Lunch Break

Local Gas Station

Quick Pit Stop

When they pulled up to the gas station, it served some fast food inside, and Gene was going to grab some quick for them so they could get some fuel into the tanks.

Their day was just beginning, but they’d skipped breakfast and just had coffee.

Next up on the list, they had to talk to Aaron’s family to figure out if he’d said anything.

Ethan had contacted the homicide captain, Adrian Marrero, and he got them the meeting with the family—at the precinct.

By then, he’d also have any of the files ready for them where Aaron crossed paths with Jaden Medin.

IFhe did.

As for meeting them at the precinct…

There was no doubt that the man didn’t want them upsetting the family of a good cop, and wanted to monitor their questioning.

That was fine by them.

If he liked to watch, more power to him.

“I’ll get us some lunch, and we can sit down at the tables, and talk about this case.”

Ethan was good with that.

The sun was out, and he didn’t mind dining alfresco.

When in Puerto Rico on vacation, get as much sun as you could.

So when Gene headed in to get them some lunch, Ethan walked around the outside of the building, taking in the views. It was a nice day, and he was bummed they weren’t inSpeedos and having fun.

Maybe when they retired.

Then again, by that time, they might be too old forSpeedos.

At this rate, that was a distinct possibility.

Heading around the backside of the gas station, he saw the bathroom, and wanted to wash his hands.

They’d worn gloves to search Jarod’s home, but now he had that powdery residue from the inside of his gloves on his hands.

That did not make good eating.

Period.

Going in, he hit the lights, and walked up to one of the sinks. There were two stalls, one urinal, and two sinks.
