On.

It.

As Gene pushed the door open, he saw the shit all over the place, and knew that they would absolutely be having some of the FBI morgue techs heading there to check the place out for trace.

Why?

Someone tossed it.

Immediately, he pulled his gun, and knew that they had a problem. Someone had been here before them, and not only had they gotten there, but they ransacked the place.

When Gene and Ethan sent him off duty, he was more than happy to oblige.

Oh, Corbin knew it was for his‘own good’, but that didn’t matter to him.

The last thing he wanted was to be in danger—not that he wanted that for his friends, but they could hold their own.

He couldn’t.

Not yet.

And he also had to worry about Will, too.

It wasn’t like he wasn’t here with him, and potentially in harm’s way. The conversation at the FBI office did little to make Corbin feel more relaxed.

In the back of his mind, he was grateful that both Gene and Ethan didn’t want him helping on this one.

If he did, that put the bullseye on him and Will. The bottom line was Corbin wasn’t in a good place when it came to defending himself.

He needed to be protected, and Will too.

So bless his friends.

He loved them.

When the man he loved patted the cabbie on the arm, he pulled over, and he paid him.

Apparently, they were getting out.

Once outside of the cab, Corbin looked around. It was a shopping district, and he wasn’t sure what they were doing there.

“Lunch?” Corbin asked. “Or shopping?”
