Bran’s eyes turned molten, and Gil’s eyes flinty. The latter met his prime’s gaze and said, “They are not allowing for natural matches?”

“This is treachery,” Bran growled. “We willnotdeploy.”

“That is insubordination,” Gil pointed out.

Ursula cried out, breathless as an orgasm shattered her again.

“It’s only insubordination if the revolution fails,” Bran said and bared his teeth in a vicious smile.

Gil turned to bend over their mate, and he pressed a soft kiss to her open mouth as her breath sawed in and out of her lungs. Rising, he said, “Rest, elska’adir. I shall have refreshments brought to you, and then you shall bathe. Join us for supper.”

Ursula blinked bleary eyes. Her words slurred, “What time is it?”

“You have plenty of time,” Bran reassured her. “Rest, eat, drink, and rest some more. I’ll summon you when we’re ready.”

“Ready for what?”

He smoothed her tangled hair back from her forehead. Her eyes fluttered shut.

“Your warrior triad.”

Her eyes snapped open. “Triad?”

“Gil, me, and Zul.”

“He looks like Crow,” she murmured as her eyes closed again.

“All berserkers are red-skinned and black-horned,” Gil said, his voice gentle and quiet. “But you must remember that Zul isnotCrow.”

Bran shook his head and communicated mind to mind with his bonded brother,No, I believe Zul is stronger than Crow. He will not be so lenient with her as Crow was.

Gil replied in kind. Will she love him, too, do you think?

They rose from the bed and stalked from the room. She admits attraction, something she has not felt for any Urib male other than us. That is a good indication.

And will he love her and respect her independent nature? She is not truly Urib, despite how much she now looks like us.

Once bonded with us and mated to her, he will not willingly cause her distress. I am sure of it.

And what about this revolution you seek to launch?

Bolstered by his second-in-command’s unstinting support, Bran chuckled.Do you think the indolent fools who sit on the Council Supreme can withstand an uprising of honorable warriors? We’ll have the berserkers on our side.

A lot of those “indolent fools” are high caste like you,Gil pointed out.

Bran sniffed, a sound of derision, and said aloud, “Honor has been bred out of them. They are weak and will fall before us.”

Chapter 7

Zul rose from his chair and bowed in respect to his hosts. Garbed in the fine clothing they had given him, he felt awkward and beholden to their generosity while guilty of some crime he had not committed—yet. He ached with the desire to claim their mate as his.

Although Bran and Gil smelled fresh as though having recently bathed, he could still detect the faint, lingering scents of sex and the sweetness of their mate on them. He willed his body not to react.

“Please be seated,” Gil invited with a slow sweep of his hand.

Zul reclaimed the chair while Bran and Gil seated themselves, facing him across a low table.

Gil spoke again, “We have been summoned to duty.”
