I took him all the way down to the back of my throat, gagging each time he pushed all the way into my mouth. Smiling at him with my eyes to let him know I wanted it. All of it. All of him.

He gripped a handful of my hair in his fist and guided my head, back and forth as he fucked my mouth.

My gaze found Solomon's, watching him as his eyes closed. Cass came hard, in the back of my throat at the same time as he took his last breath.

He was dead before I swallowed down every, tasty drop.

Even more delicious knowing one more monster was dead.

CHAPTER 25

HARLOW

"They found what was left of Solomon's body." Cass looked up from his laptop screen. "Right where theanonymoustip," he used air quotes, "said he'd be."

"Good." Unlike him and Gina, I'd tipped off the cops so they could find him before his staff did. His restaurant would be closed for a couple of days before it was purchased by…a new owner looking to expand.

The establishment was in the perfect location. When word got out about the grisly demise of its owner, the price would be right. Owning something he'd spent years building was another layer to our poetic justice.

"They're comparing his murder to Wolfgang Taylor-Francis," he added. "It says here, Solomon Danforth was missing his heart."

"Huh, you don't say." I looked up from my pile of job applications and smiled.

"If he doesn't say, I do," Boner said. He was sitting at another table, a sketchpad in front of him. I didn't ask, but I suspected he was sketching me and Cass. Right now, he was smiling like the Cheshire Cat.

"Did they say the slice and dice job on his chest was clearly done by someone of high intelligence and skill?"

"They'll probably ascertain that it was two different people," Archer said without taking his eyes off his phone. "Forensic science can?—"

Boner flapped a hand at him. "Yeah, yeah, whatever. It was worth it."

"Until they realize there's more than one person running around the city killing people," Jules said bluntly.

"It might be a good thing," I said slowly, before adding another applicant to the pile of those I wanted to interview. "They might decide we aren't worth going after. We're too much of a threat."

Okay, I didn't believe that either. These men, whoever they were, had power, influence and money. They could send an army after us if they wanted to.

If they could find us.

Jules snorted disbelievingly.

"We'll be ready for them," I told him. "In the meantime, we'll keep trying to find out who they are. Cass is looking into Fairfield and Solomon Danforth's financials and business dealings. If we can find some in common…"

"I know you're going to tell me to fuck off." Jules propped an elbow on the table and rested his head on his palm.

"Fuck off," Boner said.

Jules ignored him. "Have you considered letting this go? We all could have died.”

The bruising on his face had faded to yellow across his cheek. “I know how it feels to want vengeance?—"

"Then don't suggest I give it up," I said evenly. "I haven't come this far to walk away. If you want to, you know where the door is."

I didn't want anyone here that didn't want to be here. This was my mission. Kill or be killed.

Preferably the former.

I wanted to destroy Hypnos and Zeus. I wanted to tear their worlds down. Burn them to ashes. I wanted to feel their warm hearts on the palm of my hand. I wanted to sit beside them while the light faded from their eyes.
