“Kiss kiss.” Julia looks up and laughs.

Even at a young age the kids are used to the affection between their parents, something I’m grateful for. They needed to know what a loving, respectful relationship is like. And if Sophie and I can set that example for them every single day, that’s what I want.

It was the way I’d grown up and the reason I’d always known not to settle for anything less thaneverythingwhen it came to a partner.

“That’s right, Julia.” I wink at my wife. “Daddy loves to kiss kiss mommy.”

In his highchair, Liam squeals with delight. He’s a happy baby and everything makes him laugh.

As much as I want to carry my girl into the bedroom and show her exactly how much I love and appreciate her, now that we have a full house it’s harder and harder to steal those moments.

I’m not complaining.

I love every single thing about my life and count all of my blessings every day.

Willing to settle for another kiss, I pull Sophie close again as the back door flies open and William walks in.

“Kissing again?” His groan turns into a laugh. At eleven years old already, William is growing into a fine young man and his mother has played a huge role I that. Another thing I’m immensely grateful for. I never thought I needed help raising William until I had Sophie.

Everything about our lives was richer because I’d made the decision to investigate a suspicious fire that night.

“And I’ll do it again and again.” I dip Sophie low and kiss her one more time.

“Don’t watch, Julia.” William puts his hands over his sister’s ears. “It’ssogross.” He scoops up his baby sister and makes her giggle while Sophie and I stand by and watch.

My girl rests her head against my shoulder. “I love you, Griff.”

My heart swells the way it always does when she says those words. I snuggle her closer. “Sweetheart, I love you more than I can say. Thank you for making me the luckiest man on the mountain.”
