“We agreed to eat every Friday. It’s now Sunday.” His gaze is intent on both brothers, but they remain silent.
Sai reaches for the coffee pot, filling a mug and offering it to me with a large grin.
I take it with both hands and a grateful smile. “Thank you.”
His grin fades into something darker. “Call me a good boy.”
I glare at him, but his smirk just curls back, slower, filthier.
Ignoring Sai, my eyes trail over the tray of food while the silent standoff between the brothers and Julien continues. Eggs, toast, fruit. Normal things, comforting food that smells incredible. But no one reaches out.
A deep rumble sounds in Sai’s chest and my stomach suddenly feels too light, but as I look at him, I realise it wasn’t directed at me.
“Zeek, Kane, come on,” Sai pushes, “you missed Friday, you just went feral, and you’re still way too close to the dark.”
Another disgruntled sound comes from Ezekial, but neither brother denies his words.
Then Sai’s voice softens as he turns to me. “You too, Red. Not that feral doesn’t suit you.”
I smirk despite myself, then look back at the food. It looks and smells amazing, but I’m not hungry. Can’t actually remember the last time I felt real hunger.
Not for food anyway…
The only thing I hungered for, was to continue what we’d just started. And if Julien and Sai wanted to join…
“Mon âme, if you eat, they will follow.”I peer over my coffee at Julien, pretending I was having civilised thoughts. “They have not eaten for weeks. Please.”
Weeks? As an empath, emotional manipulation almost always works on me, and when it’s aimed at my bonds, it’s impossible to ignore. Julien’s soft eyes are just another blow.
I place my mug on the tray, and grab a piece of buttered toast. Not missing the cocky smile from Sai that I’ve chosen what he’s ‘made’.
Then I say to the brothers,“If I’m eating, then so are you.”
Julien and Sai share a smug look as both brothers immediately take something from the tray. I hum my approval, before taking a bite.
“Why aren’t you eating?” I arch a brow at Sai.
His eyes darken. “What I want isn’t on the tray, baby.”
I frown. “Then go get it?”
He smirks, eyes dropping to the cover. “In front of everyone, Red? What about our friendship?”
The breath catches in my throat when I realise what he’s staring at. Kane’s hand is on my spine in a heartbeat, steadying me, though it only makes the rush of heat flare sharper.
“An imbued muzzle and collar,”Ezekial mutters, glaring at Sai who laughs, delighted. “You think I’m joking?”
“What do you think, Red?” Sai’s grin is back to its wicked glory. “Would a collar suit me?” He leans forwards, voice dropping to a sinful rasp in my mind. “You could chain me up,make me kneel, see how long I obey before I bite.”Then his eyes drop again. “Hold my muzzled mouth to your bare—”
Julien shovesa piece of toast into his mouth, thankfully stopping him, forcing him to chew.
Laughter bubbles out of me at the absurdity of… this.Them.
The four of us, in bed, having breakfast.
After I’d justbeen kissing Kane. He’d been kissingme.
Kane.
