Etta leaned back in her chair and stretched. “I don’t see why I should care what kind of people she is cavorting with. Aside from you, of course.”

Jamie, who remained perched on her desk, picked up one of Etta’s files and thumbed through it.Yuck. Taxes.Seemed like Etta was always dealing with taxes. This was a woman who donated to a million charities and offshore accounts, yet still spent millions in taxes like some people spent money in their everyday lives. “I’m not saying you should care. Only that it might affect things at work, right?”

“It’s none of my business.” Etta put her hands down, gripping the arms of her chair. “Unless she makes it my business… yet I can’t imagine her doing that. Yikes.”

“Maybe she’s rebounding.”

“From what?”

Jamie shrugged. “I just want her to come out and say who she’s traveling around with!”

“As long as Natasha’s back at work by Wednesday like she said she would be, I don’t care.” Etta matchedher shrug. “No skin off my back if…”

“If she ends up being Monique’s sister-in-law a year from now?”

“Hold up. What?”

“Think about it. If she and Evelyn Warner end up serious, that could make Natasha Monique’s sister-in-law one day.”She better make me a bridesmaid.I want an up-front and personal view of that ceremony. It would be so sophisticatedly garish that Jamie would end up in a Givenchy dress that hugged her ass and had her tits spilling out from every spare nook and cranny.I can’t wait. It better happen.

Etta caught the shit-eating grin on her face. “Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Last I checked, Natasha was making excuses to not be around the office whenever Ms. Warner was around.” Neither Natasha nor Etta kept it a secret that Eve often showed up at the Thompson-Coleman offices to do business on her family’s behalf. “I was starting to wonder if I would have to talk with Ms. Warner. Through Monique, of course.”

“Of course.” Etta would have no idea how to approach Eve on such a personal matter. Not that Etta would be scared of her.More like have no idea how to get across that she was not to speak to the receptionist ever again. You know, the first person you have to talk to when you come into the office.Jamie didn’t think it had ever gotten that bad between Natasha and Eve, though. That implied one was harassing the other. As far as Jamie knew, Natasha was freaked out by the mutual attraction she couldn’t handle. That and persistent Warner personalities.

“Enough about that. How is my flower after her big trip?”

Jamie sank into Etta’s lap, arms wrapping around her as she smiled. “I’m exhausted, but I had a lot of fun. Wasn’t it nice of Adele to help me out like that?”

“Indeed, it was. I’m glad you were able to find a dress. Not that I’ll be able to see it until the wedding, I’m sure.”

“I’m not a superstitious woman, but I feel like I would be messing with too many forces by letting that happen. Although a part of me thinks youshould see it, so you don’t have a heart attack at the wedding. Because of how gorgeous I am, of course.”

Etta squeezed her hip. “Indeed, you are. I am always captivated by your insatiable beauty. If I could, I’d eat it up.”

“According to you, it was my beauty that made you want to fuck me sideways.”

“I still remember that day. Was coming off a pretty rough dry spell.”

Jamie laughed, happy that she could think of such memories with fondness. “Even back then, when I knew what kind of relationship I was signing up for, I thought… well, if I’m gonna be paid to have sex for six months, it better be with a rich bitch like you. Who knew it would lead to this?”

“I hope that’s your speech at our wedding.”

“It should be. Knowing me, I’ll be a blubbering mess because I love you so much.”

“Is there such a thing?” Etta held her closer. “Because I don’t want to believe it.”

“You’re too much.”

Jamie was ready to hop off her lap and get back to unpacking and relaxing her first night back home, but Etta was not ready to let her go. “Now hang on,” she said, tone changing. “There’s something we should talk about first.”

What’s this now?Jamie had no idea what to expect. “Hopefully it’s something good.”

Etta was not immediately forward with her point. “How long do we have until the wedding? Seven weeks?”

“Thereabouts.”

“That’s not a lot of time between then and now. If I’m not working, we’re going to be doing that whole bachelorette party thing.”

“Yeah, about that… who is throwing yours, exactly?”
