There is way too much information being thrown at him, his mind can’t keep up. He didn’t even know he had a lawyer, much less that they were working on his case.

His mind spits out the one question that really needs an answer. “I’ll be free?”

“Yes.”

Izz slumps back in his chair, breath whooshing out.

God, this means I own Sinn'ous even more. How did he get this lawyer. How does he have so much pull.

Do I care how? This is happening. I’m going to be out of here.

He owes Sin everything.

Inwardly sighing he knows this means he needs to try harder. Sin does everything for him and he refused to even try. Had baulked at the idea. Maybe it won’t be so bad? Sin said he wouldn’t die from blacking out. Should he try it . . .?

He didn’t want to try knife-play in the beginning and now he practically begs for it. The licks of pain coupled by the all-consuming pleasure when Sin is pounding into him—pounding his prostate. It’s so fucking good.

But can he get through this next hurtle? Will he discover it’s the same pleasure-pain as being cut?

When Sinn'ous enters the room Izz can feel the atmosphere change, he doesn’t need to look up from where he is staring at his intertwined fingers to know Sin’s here.

He’s vaguely aware of the lawyer standing, of a conversation being had between the two. But he can’t bring himself to hear any of it. All he can think about is how much Sin has done for him. Even to the extent of giving his mother and sister a place to live.

He blinks at his fingers, and through the edges of his vision he watches Charles Bennett leave the room, and Sin spin around a chair to straddle it. Sitting with his arms folded over the back, black eyes locked on Izz.

He appreciates the way Sin is giving him space, is open and not dragging this into a deep conversation. He can’t deal with anything but casual right now. His mind is spiraling way too much.

“I told you I’d take care of everything. This includes your case, and anything else revolving around the law.”

Sin did say that didn’t he? In different words maybe? That Izz will be protected.

“Thank you.” Izz whispers.

Because what else is there to say?—

There is a lot he should say. Starting with him agreeing to try the whole choking on cock thing. But he can’t bring the words out. He’s not ready to make this decision, he needs time to process everything that just happened here.

CORRELATES TO CHAPTER 66 & AFTER

JASPER

It’s actually happening. He’s being released. Let out. Freed.

It still doesn’t seem real. He fears he will wake up from a long dream and find himself in his bunk. But at the same time, that’s no longer a fear, he has something—someone, in there that means the world to him.

He’d fled after the quick hug to Sin, he hadn’t wanted to start crying and give Sin a reason to leave him, to not want him once they’re both out. Once they’re no longer caged in.

I am no longer caged in.

Izz steps through the exterior door, into the light of day and the air of a free man. Making it two steps before he swivels back to the place that had changed him so deeply.

A chain link fence greets him, towering ominously above him. The barred gates now shut. And the huge letters over the entire exterior wall, from edge to edge.

Sandstone Correctional

He is looking at it from an outsider’s perspective, yet he doesn’t feel like an outsider.
