Once I turned around to talk to the new customer in front of me, I needed to crane my neck up because of how tall this man was. My eyes bugged out of my head, as my jaw dropped to the floor. “Oh my god… you’re violet!” Wait, violet skin? Did I see that correctly?
Wait wait wait, let’s roll that back. Did I just say that out loud? Did the brain filter not kick in again? I groan, squeezing my eyes shut, holding the bridge of my nose. This most definitely is going to be in the list of the Top ten embarrassing moments of Blair. Trying to compose myself, I take a couple of deep breaths.
Everything is going to be okay, it was just my imagination. There really isn’t a giant, sexy, burly, violet man in front of me.After finally getting my act together and having a little pep talk with my inner self, I open my eyes and look at him again.
Okay stay calm, you’re obviously dreaming because there is one hundred percent a beautiful violet man in front of me.I must have been gazing at him because the sexiest smirk crosses his handsome face, mirth gleaming in his eyes. Oh shit, please tell me I kept my thoughts to myself. Zero-two for Blair today in the brain department and it’s only been five minutes. My cheeks heat from the embarrassment.
He clears his throat. “I haven’t seen you around here before,” he states with his low timbered voice, his left eyebrow raised in question. Yeah I’m really curious about you too, big guy.
“Decided to run away with the circus, but none were hiring. This town spoke to me, so here I am working at Honey Buns instead. I have only been here for a couple of weeks,” I shrug, as if it’s no big deal. I chew on my lip, glancing up at him beneath my lashes to see if I have somehow scared him off with my shenanigans. He chuckles. “You know, it’s been a long time since I have heard anyone running off to join a circus. I tried to join myself, but they wouldn’t have me either. Must be something special about us then.” My cheeks redden at the compliment. I shyly glance up, wanting to tell him thank you, when I’m stunned bythe most beautiful eyes I have ever seen. They were clear, shiny, and emerald green, truly looking like a polished gem.
“Welcome to town. And to answer your question, I will have a cinnamon roll and black coffee here, please,” he said smoothly as he winked at me. I could feel my face heat, reddening from his flirting. Since he was the only customer in the bakery, I was able to make his order without rushing.
I grabbed a plate to put his cinnamon roll on. The pastry engulfed the whole surface. I grabbed one of the coffee mugs we had hanging for when people wanted their coffee here, instead of rushing out the door. I had just made a new pot of coffee before he came in, steam billowing from the mug as I poured the liquid. I held onto the mug as I grabbed his plate and headed towards his table, where he decided to sit in the corner, near a window, right in my line of sight.
I walked over to where he was sitting and placed his mug and food in front of him, getting a thanks in return. Right as I turn around to go back to the register, his large, violet hand stops me, burning my skin and sending shivers down my spine. I’m entranced by his palm on my skin and the way it feels that I completely zone out and miss what he said. “Huh?” I ask, moving my eyes from where he’s touching my skin to his beautiful face.
His eyes are wide in surprise. I wonder if he’s affected as much as I am from our contact? A small smile on his face. “What’s your name?” his voice was husky and gravelly, sending a bolt of heat through my body.
The hunky hottie was asking my name?Oh my, what do I do? It’s been ages since someone hit on me. I was trying to find myself out here, not find Mr. big, dark, and handsome. A shy smile escapes me while I’m trying to play it cool, “I’m Blair. And what’s your name?”
“The name is Asmodeus.”Blair…I see him mouth my name, tasting the syllables on his tongue. A small smile on his lips, “what a unique name for a unique woman.”
He sticks out his hand for what I’m assuming is a handshake.Right right, just a normal human action to greet another human. Coming from the violet man. Although I don’t think that would be the case. Fae maybe? Or an Orc?Of course, these were mythical monsters that I was naming off from the books I read and fantasy movies; they couldn’t possibly be real.
I squeaked, realizing that I had been lost in thought and probably staring at him like a complete crazy person.I mean at this point, would it be weirder to shake his hand now, or pretend that I didn’t see it at all and play it off?I quickly snapped out of it and practically threw my hand at him. He didn’t let go of my hand or laugh at me. Oh no no no, that would have been too easy. No, instead he starts rubbing the back of my hand with his thumb, putting me at ease. His warm hand engulfing mine, sparks of heat running through my body at the tiniest hint of skin contact. The contrast between his violet skin tone and my peachy tone was fascinating. I couldn’t stop staring at our hands, something buried inside me starting to unfurl deep in my chest and core.
I look up at his face, and he’s studying me with an expression I cannot read but wish I had spent more time trying to learn. I’m surprised I haven’t run him off yet, but why? That wouldn’t make sense; that can’t be. “Thank you,” he whispers to me. My cheeks flame so much that I can feel my whole face heat. Why was he having such an impact on me? I have never once blushed this much in such a short amount of time. Even with Heath, my body didn’t react this intensely.
I lose all sense of speech, nodding my head at his thanks the only thing I can manage to do in that moment. All I could do was turn around and practically run back to the register, my thoughts reeling. I looked at the time and it was now 10:30 am. I had two hours left of my shift, and the lunch crowd would start trickling into the bakery soon for their mid-lunch snacks or to pick something up for home.
As I was busy getting the place ready for lunch, I kept sneaking glances over towards the corner where he was sitting, his eyes never leaving me, constantly watching. Ididn’t see him get up, but suddenly I heard a knock on the counter, and it was him.
“By any chance, can I get another cup of coffee, please?” he asked, sliding the mug across the counter for me to grab.
I gave him a small smile. “Of course you can, if you want to go sit back down, I can bring it to you.” He nods and turns, walking back. As he heads back to his table, I get a good eyeful of his burly back muscles, his wide, powerful gait, his broad, muscular shoulders, and that glorious, round, tight ass he has. Even though he was obviously violet, it didn’t detract from how attractive he was.
I filled the mug full of hot, black coffee and headed back towards his table. As I walked back over to him, I was finally able to take in his appearance since I was no longer taken aback. He had shoulder-length, straight, snow white hair, half of it pulled away from his face into a bun, beautiful violet colored skin, and then the most striking emerald green eyes. He had a strong jawline, with pointy ears and long eyelashes. He was built thick, with broad shoulders and thick thighs the size of tree trunks. His shirt and pants were strewn tight across his body, showing every muscle beneath.
He was freakishly large, probably at least six-feet-eight-inches tall. I wonder where he got all of his clothes. No way normal clothes would fit him. I bring him his refill and stand there gazing at him. I probably looked like a weirdo, but I was entranced by him. He had such a pretty smile, his lips full and plump.
“Thanks” he said huskily, his voice deeper than it was before. My cheeks heat as I realize I was staring at his mouth.
“You’re welcome,” I squeak, turning quickly and heading back to the front. Super embarrassed for ogling the customer.
I keep glancing over his way, getting glimpses of him. I lock eyes with him, a smirk on his lips. Oh my gosh, he totally knows I was checking him out. I need to get a hold of myself.

Chapter 5 - Asmodeus
Isat here watching her– Blair. When I first entered the café, I was surprised to see someone new besides Thea to greet me. I have been coming to this bakery for two years now, religiously every other week. Through all my travels across the world, Thea had some of the best baked treats, as if she sprinkled a little magic in them.
Witches were real of course, so who knows; but if there was magic in her food, I should at least be able to tell. But the real magic was the way my whole being responded to Blair when I saw her. My soul reaching out,Mine.
I was a bit confused with her reaction to me when she first saw me standing there. It was like she couldn’t believe I was real, which was definitely not a normal reaction when you saw another human. Unless maybe they were a celebrity, but I was definitely no one of importance. Just a normal demon glamoured as a human. Maybe she thought I was ugly? I was told I looked very handsome with my glamour; my skin changing to a peach color and my hair becoming a platinum blonde.
Although, now that I think back on it, she did say I was violet.Hmm… I wonder. If she were able to see me through the glamour, that would be quite the development. Is it even possible for humans to see my demon form so easily? The only people or beings who could see my true form was if I wanted them to, they were other supernatural beings, or if I was back in the demon realm. I haven’t been to the demon realm in over ten years. Earth has been my home.
