“So pretty, Cass,” he murmured against her temple, the admiration and praise in his voice hitting that soft, unguarded place inside her.
Slowly the pleasure eased, gradually fading into little aftershocks. His arms were the only things holding her up when she came back to earth. When she found the strength to open her eyes again, his gorgeous green gaze smoldered with heat and satisfaction in the mirror.
Now that her brain was functioning again, she could feel the thick, hard length of his erection pressed against her rear. But when she turned to face him and reached down to grip him through his jeans, he covered her hand and growled against her mouth.“Later.”
“Why not now?”She wanted to get on her knees right here and return the favor.
He groaned and nipped her lower lip, reaching under the hem of the shirt to squeeze her butt. She could feel the dampness of his fingers on her skin.“Because I plan on taking my time with you this time.So as soon as everyone leaves, I’m taking you back to bed.”
Her abdomen clenched, toes curling at the thought of him lingering over her that way.“When did you say they’re leaving?”
His grin made her heart flutter.“If they stay more than another ten minutes, I’ll tell them to get lost.”He squeezed her hip, washed his hands in the sink, and gave her one last tender kiss that left her swooning.“Autumn brought you some clothes.I put the bag on the bed.”He gave her a heated look.“The sooner you get dressed and come say goodbye, the sooner they’ll leave.”
Chapter Thirty-Four
––––––––
Rob cast another furtiveglance through the tiny gap he’d opened at the edge of the motel room curtain. It had been three days since the fire.Three long, agonizingly slow days he’d been holed up here, afraid to move.
His head pounded from another hangover, made worse by the measly two hours of sleep he’d allowed himself last night. There was no way he could keep this up.
So far no one had come looking for him.Or at least they hadn’t found him yet.But that was only a matter of time, and the longer he stayed in the area, the more dangerous it would get.
He didn’t know where Cassie was now.Hadn’t been able to find out anything since escaping the area.He almost hadn’t made it out of there. That had been way too damned close.Cassie’s fuck buddy had almost hit him.
He was completely exhausted. His cash was almost gone, along with his food supplies. He didn’t know where to turn next.Had only one remaining option.
With the greatest reluctance, he reached out to his only hope, using his last burner. It’s me.Need help. She’s with that guy.The redhead.
Rob set his jaw, knowing he was likely the number one suspect now.He had never dreamed it would take this long or be this hard to get his revenge. It should’ve ended with Penny’s death. That should’ve been enough to ruin her life, and he’d spent weeks getting everything in place to make it happen.
Now the element of surprise was long gone, and she had protection.Good protection, along with the full force of CPS’s resources behind her.
I just need one more chance when she’s alone and isolated.A location would give me that shot.If he could find her, he would wait until her guard was down. All he needed was a few minutes.
After that, he either left the area and escaped the country before the law caught up with him, or he wound up back behind bars.
