When he didn’t hear anything, he opened them and saw that Cam had deflated in his chair, as if all the air had fled his lungs. Nolan had no idea what to make of that.
He quickly followed up with, “If you no longer want to offer me the position, I’ll understand.”
Cam blinked and shook his head in confusion. “Why would I want to revoke the offer?”
“Because I hid the fact I’m bisexual.”AndI’ve lusted after you for a long time. Plus, had plenty of fantasies about you.
Cam’s brow dipped low. “Why would that matter? That doesn’t affect how you do your job.”
“But I was afraid how it would affect our relationship.”
“Because you’re bi?”
“Because of how attracted I am to you.”
Chapter Twelve
When Cam surgedfrom his desk chair, it shot backward and slammed the wall behind him. He rushed around his desk, grabbed a surprised Nolan’s shoulders, and pulled him out of his chair.
They stood toe-to-toe, only inches apart.
Cam had not been expecting that revelation. He never had an inkling that Nolan wasn’t straight. That Nolan was just like him.
They both had been hiding that secret for years. Actually, for more than a freaking decade.
If he couldn’t figure out Nolan’s sexuality without it being stated out loud, that meant Nolan hadn’t figured out Cam’s.
Holy shit, he’d been as clueless as Nolan. To be fair, he needed to do a little confessing himself.
Cam locked his gaze with a wide-eyed Nolan. “I also have a confession to make.”
Nolan’s lips parted slightly and a soft breathpuffed out. “What?”
“I’m bi, too.”
“What?” came out on almost a shout.
Cam nodded. “It’s true. But… I’ve only known you to date women.”
“I’ve also dated men. I just didn’t discuss it. But, damn, I always thought you were straight, too. You were married and—” Nolan closed his eyes and shook his head. When he opened them again, he said, “We’re idiots. Of course you were married. Of course I dated women…” He slapped a hand onto his forehead and groaned. “We’rebothbisexual. I kept a lid on it because I was worried about being harassed at work.”
“Same.” Cam sighed.
“I have another confession to make…”
What could be bigger than what he just revealed?
“I’ve wanted you since the day I’ve met you.”
Holy shit.He thought he was surprised from the first confession, but this just blew that out of the water.
“I wish you would’ve said something sooner because I’ve wanted you for years, too.”
Nolan’s mouth gaped. “I wishyouwould’ve said something.”
They’d both been fools. Their reasoning had been the same: their careers. But two friends should be able to be open with each other. “Jesus. We’ve wasted so much time.”
“I’m not sure it could’ve been avoided. Even if we didn’t keep the secret from each other, we would’ve had to keep it from everyone else.”
