His eyes were full of amusement as he met mine before speaking. “I make resolutions every year but never keep them,” he admitted.

“See? We’re the same you and me. This year let’s make a pact, no resolutions.” I held my hand out to shake on it, and he glanced at it before pulling me in for a hug.

“No resolutions,” he mumbled into my neck. “I think I can get used to this.”

“Me too.” But I didn’t mean the resolutions. Being in his arms was quickly becoming my new favorite thing.

“Okay, everyone, get ready,” someone said as a group of people rushed by us to where a small crowd stood around the television above the bar. “Ten, nine, eight—”

I turned to look at Spencer as the countdown continued. His eyes met mine and just at the stroke of midnight we kissed. All the noise of celebration faded into the background and with his warm lips pressed against mine he was all I could focus on. “Happy New Year,” he murmured.

“Happy New Year to you,” I said and kissed him again. We stayed a while longer and watched as fireworks went off inEast Sacramento that were barely visible through the fog. The fireworks between us were much brighter. It was getting colder, but I was happy here away from the crowd and noise downstairs. “My grandmother used to say whoever you kiss on New Year’s Eve you’ll spend the next year with,” I murmured and deep down I hoped it was true.

His hand cupped my cheek, and he looked deeply into my eyes. “I wouldn’t be upset about that,” he whispered.

“I’d really like to be alone with you right now,” I said, and realized the whole night I’d been unable to hold back anything from him. Whatever thought crossed my mind that involved him I just couldn’t stop myself from saying.

“Should we go check on that room?”

“Are you sure that’s what you want?” I needed to know. He was a grown man, but I wanted to know he wanted this as much as me.

“I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life.” He took my hand and led me to the elevator. “I can’t believe you got a room. I wish I would have thought of that.” He pressed the button and a few more people joined us as we waited.

“I was worried you’d think I was being too pushy, or I don’t even know. This is all new to me, I literally never do anything spontaneous.” I rubbed at the back of my head and hoped the people behind us didn’t hear. The door slid open and the two of us moved to the back.

“I’m glad you thought of it,” he whispered while everyone else in the elevator chatted and completely ignored us. The doors slid open, and I kept hold of his hand as we tried to avoid most of the crowd. Thankfully most of them were gathered on the side of the hotel where the ballroom and convention halls were located, and once we were past it we walked up to the registration desk.

“Hello, I have a room reserved for Jake Raines,” I said to the man who was working. He immediately checked his computer and confirmed the room was just one night. “Yes, we’re local.”

“Very good, you’re already checked in and breakfast is included with your reservation. Here is your key,” he said and handed us both one. “Check-out is at eleven tomorrow. Have a good evening, gentlemen.” He was very professional, but it sure did seem like he knew exactly why we wanted that room, and I would guess we were not the only ones attending tonight’s mixer who had the same idea.

Spencer lowered his chin and looked at me through his lashes before flicking the edge of his room card on his jaw. “What do you think? Ready to go see what the room has to offer?” Any doubt I had about him not wanting this faded away, and the two of us went back to the elevator and right up to the floor our room was on.

“You didn’t tell meyou got a suite,” I said as we walked in and explored the space. The room was beautiful with a wall of windows that highlighted downtown, a seating area with a large flat screen, two sofas, and a dining table and chairs. A door led to the bedroom with a king-sized bed and a bathroom with a large shower and a bath.

“It was all that was left, and I’ve never stayed in a suite downtown before,” Jake said and stepped closer to me.

“Me either,” I whispered as he untied my tie and slipped it off.

“Are you sure you’re okay staying here?” he asked one more time and I knew he was both nervous and needed to be sure.

“I’m completely sure,” I said and untied his tie before slipping it off. “This is a very nice suit. As soon as I saw you, I hoped you were going to the mixer.”

“Thank you. You looked like a dream when I first saw you. I decided on the way here to stop being so careful and take a chance. Guess I got lucky.” He grinned.

“I think I’m the one that got lucky.” He slipped off my jacket and carefully laid it across the back of a chair in the bedroom. I helped him with his jacket, and he unbuttoned the cuffs of his sleeves. He kissed me again, and somehow, we managed to take everything else off. We stood at the foot of the bed naked and for a moment just stared at each other. He was fit and toned from head to toe. His work as a chef kept him lean and strong, and I couldn’t wait to touch him.

His eyes met mine and our lips crashed together. All the heat and want from the evening exploding between us. My hands trailed down the warm skin of his back before I gripped his firm ass. “I have supplies in my wallet,” he said as both of us panted.

“Me too,” I said making us laugh and dive for our pants. Once we both had condoms and lube in hand we moved to opposite sides of the bed, both hard and waiting. “I want you.”

“Then have me,” he said and climbed onto the bed. I hurried to where he was and covered his body with mine while kissing him. Reaching between us, I squeezed his cock, making him groan and making me want to wring that noise out of him again and again. Then he gripped me. My eyes rolled back, and I drew in a shaky breath and hoped I could control myself long enough to get inside him.

After shaking my head and once again hoping I could last longer than a few seconds, I guided his legs up to his chest. The packet of lube proved to be harder to manage, but I finally managed to get enough out to rub on his hole and press a finger into him. I forced myself to wait until his hips started to move, as I watched his face for any sign of discomfort. His head was thrown back in ecstasy, and I couldn’t hold back any longer before slowly pressing another finger into him. His hips moved with me as I pushed deeper inside him and his grip on me tightened. “I could stay here in this bed with you forever,” I said, not really sure where the thought or words had come from but knowing they were true.
