I smiled. “You’re basically married too, so I think you’d technically bematronof honor.”

Emmy made a face. “We haven’t had a wedding, so I’m sticking with maid.”

“Do youwanta wedding?” Finn asked.

Emmy lifted both eyebrows at him.

He snorted. “Of course you want a wedding. I should’ve assumed that.”

“I bet you already have pictures of pink wedding dresses saved to your phone, don’t you?” I teased.

“Of course I do.” She didn’t bat an eye at the question. “When are we going dress shopping? I’m going to be pissed if you already went.”

“I made an appointment tomorrow, but you don’t have to?—”

“I’ll be there. A bunch of the others will be too. I’ll make it happen. What do you have planned for flowers?”

The guys talked about some issue with their pack’s wolf-training business while Emmy and I got into the nitty gritty details aboutthe wedding. The mood was upbeat, and I was surprisingly relaxed.

It was nice.

Really, really nice.

ZOE

By the timethey headed home, it was dark outside, and I was exhausted.

I wasn’t sure what Connor was thinking or feeling, so I excused myself quietly and went to my room. After I changed into a pair of comfortable bike shorts and a thin tank top, I flipped the lights off and padded over to the bed.

Slipping beneath the blankets, I wrapped myself up in soft fabric and stared up at the ceiling, inhaling. They smelled faintly of laundry detergent, and not anywhere near enough like Connor.

Though I was tired, I wasn’t comfortable enough to fall asleep.

A few minutes went by.

Then a few more.

I huffed softly in frustration.

Then, there was a quiet knock at the door. I hadn’t locked it, but I didn’t think Connor would waltz in if I didn’t answer.

I considered my options.

Pretend I was already asleep and ignore him.

Answer the door to find out why he was knocking

If I didn’t know what he was going to say, I wouldn’t have time to decide how I felt and what I was thinking before we talked.
