“It’s been radio silent. No one knows where she is. Have you heard anything about Axel?” I ask, hoping he finally got an update.
“Nothing on that either, just the detectives asking more questions about Amber. I wish we could send them sniffing elsewhere. I’m glad we took her to the pig farm and burnt the rest of the evidence. It will never come back to Presley or us,” hesays, and I hold a hand up, putting my finger over my lips and pointing outside the door.Big fucking mouth, Harley.
“Yea well, the lawyers need to get shit done at Hillsboro. I have a meeting tomorrow with an individual that may be helpful with getting us answers,” I reply, and before he can ask any more questions, the roar of the crowd cheering has me leaving the office quickly. “I’ll catch up to you later. I need to put an end to the night,” I tell him.
Stepping out of the door, I hand Kayla the envelope. “Get up, let’s go,” I command as she gets to her feet. I unclip the leash from the hook and tug her along as we walk back over to the bar.
“Can’t we go play in private?” she asks, and I stop in my tracks, spin, and pull the leash, wrapping the chain around my fist as I bring her mere inches away from my lips.
“That ship has sailed, honey. I’ve got a girl I’m waiting for, and you keep reminding me of your bikers,” I spit, and she smirks.
“Jealous much?” She laughs, and I pull the chain tighter, not appreciating her tone.
“Nothing to be jealous about. I’ve got everything I need,” I tell her, and her eyes narrow.
“Who is she? Who has the all mighty Demon wrapped around her fingers,” she asks, but her tone is dripping with her own jealousy. This girl has been trying to tie me down for months, which doesn’t make sense if she has Ryder and Ryker. If she thought I was going to join them—she is sadly mistaken.
“If you must know, her name is Presley. My little Gumdrop,” I tell her, giving the chain some slack as I grab the beer waiting for me on the bar top. I tug her along, pulling a little harder as we walk to the cage. She stumbles yet again and nearly falls. Some onlookers laugh at her which only makes me smirk. She finally rights herself and pulls on the chain, getting my attention.
“She doesn’t happen to have short curly black hair with turquoise eyes?” she asks, and I quirk a brow. The look in her eye, it’s a deep, far away look as if she’s plotting something but hasn’t finished the thought all the way through.Interesting, but there’s no way she knows my girl. Presley isn’t involved in the same shit me and Kayla are.
“The eye color is right but her hair is long. Why do you ask?” I question as her top lip lifts just a tiny bit.
“No reason. Listen, this was fun, but I have a dinner to get to,” she states, and I roll my eyes. Reaching behind her neck, I remove the collar from her throat and slide it in my back pocket.
“It was a pleasure doing business with you, Kayla. Have fun at your dinner. Now, run along,” I say, dismissing her, and she leans in kissing my cheek.
“Oh, I will. See you around, Demon,” she whispers then takes off like a bat out of hell as the crowd cheers and blood splatters against my boots. I look down at my feet then up at the cage as my brother snaps his teeth at his opponent being dragged out of the gate. He spits blood out of his mouth, pounding on his chest and roaring into the crowd.
Walking over to Hayden, I flip his clipboard, letting it fall to the floor. He looks at me then the clipboard and back to me.
“Don’t you think he’s had enough tonight? This is getting a little out of control,” I spit, and he narrows his eyes.
“Everyone else may be afraid of you but I shit for sure ain’t. Pick up my clipboard, Demon,” he orders, and I just fold my arms over my chest.I don’t give a fuck if he’s isn’t scared of me. I’m no one's bitch.
“Not going to happen! End the fights. Brax has had enough,” I tell him, and he just stares at me like I have ten heads. “If you don’t do it, I will, and you won’t see a dime from any of tonight's earnings,” I add, and he raises a brow. So I take out my pistol, cock it, and raise it in the air.
“Fine! Chill the fuck out! I’ll clear it out,” he says, and I nod, lowering my weapon. “You need to get laid, bro!” He laughs, picking up his clipboard and walking away.
Hayden ends the night, and I follow Brax into the locker room. “Yo, bro, what the fuck is your deal tonight?” I ask as he reaches into his pocket, produces a few pills, and swallows them down with a bottle of water. What the fuck?
I walk up behind him and shove him down the row of lockers. He whips around, his eyes looking as wild as ever.
“What the fuck, Casp?” he asks with his fists at his sides as his chest heaves.
“What did you just take?” I ask, and he shrugs.
“A couple of black beauties,” he states nonchalantly.
“Fuck, Brax. How long has this been going on for?” I question, and he shrugs again.
“Not long. Chill out. I have it under control,” he tells me, and I nod.
“You better. You remember what happened last time? Is that what this is about?” I question, and he immediately shakes his head, pushing me against the lockers and grabbing a hold of my black tee.
“No! This is not because of that! Mind your own business, Caspian,” he spits, and I shove him off of me.
“Yea well, I want to know fucking why?” I growl, and he shakes his head, walking towards the showers. I go to follow him, but my phone blaring has me stopping in my tracks. I take a deep breath, turn, and leave the locker room. Why do I feel like I’m babysitting a fucking toddler?
