Lovethis girl?
I stare into her eyes all the while panting, attempting to get control of myself. Do I love Colette? Do I know what that feels like? Because I’m not sure I truly loved Amber. It just sort ofwaswith us. Slowly, I loosen the grip on her ass, which causes her to slide down. She drops her legs.
“What?” She looks worried.
“The first time we’re together, it’ll be in my bed. Not on some hard deck.” I lean down and kiss her lips softly. “I’m not opposed to fucking on the deck…” I kiss the tip of her nose. “The first time, though, needs to be special.”
Staring down at Colette, I notice her lashes fluttering like crazy. A tear slips out of her left eye. Then one from her right. “Honey…” I swipe the first one away with my thumb. “Don’t cry. I’m sorry. I’ll do you right here, right now, if that’s what you want. Just don’t cry.”Fuck.“Please?” She laughs. “Laughing and crying at the same time? You’re screwing with my head, woman.”
“Sorry.” She wipes away the wetness from her cheeks. “I was just touched by what you said. These aren’t sad tears.”
Hallelujah.“You sure?”
Colette nods slowly. “I’m sure.” We’re quiet for one or two solid minutes—just looking at one another.
I break the quiet with “This means something to me.”
“Me, too.”
I kiss her once more, with meaning, but no tongue. “Let’s take a walk down to the lake. Let me show you what I’m planning for the dock area.”
“Okay.”
With our hands linked, we take the steps down to the lower level. Kicking at the dirt, I inform her, “This’ll get sod next week.” As we get closer to the water, I explain my plans for the dock and the small beach area we’ll create after some of the trees are cleared from the water’s edge.
“It’s going to feel more like a vacation home.”
“That was my plan and one of the reasons I picked this spot. We used to come out to the lake all the time in the summer. A couple of times, my folks rented a cabin out here. I swear to you, it was the best time of my life. It was my goal to buy land on the lake and live here year-round.”
She pats my shoulder. “You did it.”
“I did.” Wrapping my arm around her waist, I pull her into my side. “So, do you like it?”
She scoffs. “Who wouldn’t?”
I know this is a prime location, but lake life isn’t for everyone. There’s always going to be lots of dust and dirt, plus the summer months are crazy busy out here. “But doyoulike it?”
“It’s wonderful.” She sighs. “Peaceful.”
“Until the boats start buzzing everywhere.” I laugh.
“I suppose.” Colette leans her head on my chest and wraps her arms around my middle.
“Hang on. Be right back.” I slip out of her arms and jog back to the house. I gather up the things I need and jog back down. “Here you go.” I hand Colette her wineglass. Setting my bottle of water on the ground, I lay out a wool blanket I had in the garage. “Now we can sit on the blanket and watch the sun set over the water.”
“Sam Griffin.” She’s got her hand on her hip. She smirks. “You’re a romantic.”
Sitting on the blanket, I hold my hand out for her. “I am with you.” Never with anyone else.
“Aw. That’s sweet.” She’s blushing, which tells me she’s being sincere.
“Not as sweet as you.” I guide her to sit in front of me, between my legs so I can wrap her up in my arms. “Gettin’ chilly.”
Colette leans back against my chest and sighs. Taking a sip of her wine, she tilts her head back so she can look up at me. “What?”
“Thank you.”
“For what?”
