“Where’s your mom?”
“Oh. Geez.” She sighs. “She ran off with a Capricorn.”
I’m shocked at her words. “Recently?”
“In the ’80s.”
“That’s terrible.”
“Meh.” She shrugs. “That’s life.”
I’m not so sure about that. It does remind me of a little research I did when I was alone and lonely in my apartment. “Did you know Aries and Libra are opposites?”
She glances at me and smirks. “Yep.”
“Are we destined to fail?”
I watch Lou’s face as she ponders my question. “Opposites attract. At least that’s what they say.”
“But can we last? You know, being opposites?” Everything I read was so negative. It bugged the hell out of me. I’m anxious to hear what she thinks about it.
“If you’re not a complete dumbass then, yeah, I think we could last.”
I nearly choke at her response. “So, it’s up to me? If I’m not a dumbass? We could make it?”
“Yep.”
“Okay then. I guess I’d better watch myself.”
“Please do.”
At a stoplight, I ask, “Have dinner with me.”
Her head turns slowly until our eyes lock. “Why?”
“Because I like you. I want to get to know you.”
“This is about sex, right?”
Shaking off her statement, I lean over a little. “I plan on fucking you again but not until you’re ready. UntilI’mready. I’ve got to prove myself to you, and I plan on doing that.”
“You’re going to have to leave again, though, right?”
“No.”
“No?”
“No. I’m going to stay here until I’ve locked down my girl.”
“Then, you’re leaving?”
“No. Then, I’ll take you to Arizona with me so you can help me pack up my shit.”
“Pack up your shit?”
“Yep. I’m moving to Zodiac Hills.”
“Why?”
