Emma
“You what?”
My roommate is so nosey. Well, okay, I guess I’m the one that opened our apartment door, dropped my bag, and jogged back to her bedroom and blabbed about my incident in the library. The one with Eli.
“I dry-humped with Eli.” I pause for emphasis. “In. The. Library.”
“You dry-humped Eli Baxter in the library?”
“In the archives.”
“Oh, no.” Carley gasps. “That’s the place everyone goes to hook up. Was that your idea or his?”
My smile slips over to a frown. “I wondered about that.” I did remember. “He knew where the light switch was.”
“Of course, he did. Everyone knows where the light switch is.”
“Do you?” I mean, this is the first I’m hearing of this. How does Carley know?
She blushes at my question, which gives me the answer.
“Geesh.” I cover my face with my hands. “So, do you think he was….”
“I think he wanted to get you alone. I don’t think you should read too much into the fact it all happened in one of the most notorious hook-up spots on campus. I mean, you were alreadyinthe library.” She smiles and it looks a little sinister if I’m being honest. “So tell me… and be honest. Did you like it?”
Oh, I see. She’s going to talk about my virginity. Again. I’m going to play dumb because I hate this conversation. “Like what?”
Carley is a master eye-roller. This time was no exception. “The dry-humping. Did you enjoy it?”
Fine. “Yes.”
“Did you come?” Her question comes out rather soft, like she’s a little afraid to ask it.
“Yes.”
“What about him?” Her eyebrows wiggle up and down. “Did he––?”
“I assume so.”
“You assume so?” She chuckles.
I guess I don’t know so I shrug. “Yes. I assume so.” You know what they say about assuming? It makes anassout ofUandme. Get it? My high school biology teacher used to say that all the time. It stuck.
“Let me ask you this way. At any point in your little rendezvous, did he throw his head back and roar like a lion?”
What is she talking about? Roar likea lion? Now I’m the one who chuckles. “He did throw his head back. But he didn’t roar. It was more of a…” What was it? I close my eyes in an attempt to recall. “It was more of a raspy growl.”
“Ooh, he’s a growler?” She smirks. “That’s hot.”
I crack up at her words. God, this girl is hilarious. “Whatever.” I’m still laughing. “You’re insane.”
Carley jumps up off her bed and wraps me up in her arms. “You’re growing up so fast. Next thing you know, you’ll be fucking that guy.”
Slapping her arm, I’m still laughing. “Shut up.”
Pulling away from me, Carley’s knees are bent so she is looking at me at eye level.Myeye level. “Seriously.” And she does look serious. “I’m proud of you.”
“I didn’t do anything.”
